What's on My Workdesk Wednesday

Morning folks....time to join in with the fun over at WOYWW....and share what's on my workdesk this dismal rainy Wednesday morning.   I am having a bit of a tidy up day and it's confession time folks...these new goodies have been sitting on my desk since last week....basically they are homeless...there is no room at the inn....nowhere for them to go...

because the file folders I use to store my acrylic and cling stamps are fill to bursting....

will they be joining the pile of unfiled stamps which have been sitting in the corner since Christmas.....oh no I finally got some new folders...50p from Tesco and some punched pockets.....so today is going to be a file-a-thon kind of a day.  Why have I suddenly decided to do this in the middle of a mega craft week....well to let you into a little secret....I am a bit of a tidy freak....a place for everything and everything in it's place...my music CD's are stored alphabetically and woe betide anyone who replaces one in the wrong place.....my clothes in the wardrobe are all hung in colour sections....so these homeless stamps were driving  me round the twist.

Once they are all filed away.....I can find the stamp I want at a moment's notice all neat and tidy in their own plastic pocket

Wish I could do the same with my wood mounted stamps.....my Costco trolley with 10 drawers is filled to the brim and finding a particular stamp in here....is a bit of a marathon....

big background and Stampin Up sets have spilled over into here
 and the Christmas stamps
I am wondering about storing all my wood stamps in 12 x 12 clear scrapbooking paper boxes in a single layer perfect with their see through lids....instead of being piled 3 high in these RUBs...but that's a job to think about another day.....in the meantime it's kettle on and get the acrylics sorted out because...and one more confession....I have a feeling there may be some new residents arriving soon....oh I know...I am very naughty....no willpower and just can't resist temptation.
But while I am busy stacking the cubbyhole to the rafters I have been clearing out lots of stuff in the house..you know the kind of stuff that you collect over the years (ornaments pictures bedding curtains) all that stuff that you never use but keep just in case.  Well it's all going... I am decluttering....going all minimalistic much to the amusement of my son.."saving me a job Mum...less to get rid of when you pop your clogs"... well I may just have the last laugh here.. little does he know the nightmare that faces him when he comes to sort out the cubbyhole...better leave him the number of a Skip Hire Company along with the will.
Catch up with you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx

  5. no no no, don't give him the number of a skip hire company - give him my number lol

kids are cheeky so-and-so's aren't they

I try to be organised too, but little fingers sometimes stop that from happening - in fact I bought some Hero Arts sentiment stamps just the other week and I've turned my crafty space upside down looking for them, I suspect a certain 3 year old has pinched them and hidden them somewhere, so it looks like I'll be gutting the girls' room today argh!
    have a great day Kath

  12. Love your organising skills. Like you I have a place for everything but that's mainly cos where I craft is my room I use for my business so is what the public see and I have no time to go searching for things when I need to use them.

  22. I have stamp envy. There I said it, I'm jealous of your stamps!! Although I have to admit that I already have the HA Watercolour Petals and the Cling you have on the right, Wildflower Meadows is it? Looks like I had them before you too!!! Never thought I'd have a problem with stamp storage when i started out with this hobby, but at least it's a nice problem to have!

  30. You've got a bit of thing for Hero Arts then Kath?!! Lovely lovely stamp collection. I wouldn't use mine if they were stored in boxes, am very admiring of the effort it takes to get 'em out. Hope you're having a lovely file a thon....I think this is the best storage solution for me..I just need to convince my courage and set aside a couple of days!

  31. Your stamp collection is making me green with envy! You're a bad girl for showing me this temptation. Now I want more! (lol) ikki x

  32. I'm not sure why we apologise for being tidy but it's always good to find another on, Kath - clothes, CDs, crafting, the lot!

Love the acrylic stamps idea - mine are in one of those peel off folders that they called 'JJ's speedos' on QVC. But the A5 folders are a much better idea.

  33. Love your storage system for your clear stamps Kath. Think I may have to try to copy it, I'm sure I have old university folders somewhere and some clear pockets. I like to try to be tidy but it doesn't always work!!

  34. That is too funny, tell him he can call me and I will help him get rid of all those great stamps. I have been considering unmounting my wood block stamps and putting them on EZ Mount and storing them that way to take up less room but then I have to find time to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh Kath you make me giggle!
Loving your organised stamps!...I have unmounted all my wooden stamps..but I didn't have nearly as many as you!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh my word, Kath- I can't believe how many stamps you have!!

I love the idea of storing them in folders by type/make- the wooden ones are a bit more of an issue though- mine are in a box piled up too, but I have fewer so it's alot easier to find what I'm after!

  37. Oohooo are Tesco's doing those folders again?? I must get some more. I've got papers in mine but putting the clear stamps in them is a great idea. You have sooo many lovely Penny Black stamps and a lovely crafty space

  38. Kath - I've been thinking about arranging my clear stamps the same way for a while - maybe you've spurred me into some activity - TOMORROW!!!?? I bought CD type storage boxes from IKEA but they don't work that well. Just like you it's the wooden ones that cause a problem - but will be stop buying them. That's like asking if I will say no when offered chocolate!
Oh and you can let your son know that I am quite happy to be contacted to help him clear your craftroom but knowing you you'll still be here long after I'm gone, and you'll still be crafting, walking a doggy and looking after great grandkids!!
    Love

  41. I think tour idea of using the paper boxes and not stacking the stamps 3 high is a great one ...have to ask ...do you take a tranquilizer or a stiff drink, before facing many of our spaces ...I'm sure coffee would not be enough lol

  58. I can't believe how many stamps you have. If I used one a day for the rest of my life, I would never use them all. Love the storage ideas, though. Got a kick from your son's decluttering comment. Just like a guy! Hope you had a wonderful WOYWW.

  59. How beautifully organized! I wish that my space looked like that. Have to confess, however, that it doesn't! In fact some stuff lives on the counter for so long that if I put it away I can't find it! I expect it to be on the counter. Sad, isn't it. I do try, honest I do. That lasts till the first crafty session.

Had to laugh at your son's comment.
Hugs to you and Buddy, unless he's eloped with Miss Ruby?
