Simon Says...Red/White And/Or Blue

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

It's the first week of the month and that means the design team are showcasing a particular brand/company. This week we are all using products from the fabulous Darkroom Door. If you don’t have any of their products, that’s OK, you can still join in with the challenge but if you have some we would love to see what you make with them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Karolina Bukowska into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven’t visited Karolina’s blog before then you are in for a real treat! Please pop by and give her a warm welcome!!
and the theme for this week is...
RED WHITE AND/OR BLUE
I looked out my Dylusions Art Journal and Coffee Time, one of my favourite stamp sets from Darkroom Door

but I have to apologise for the lack of step-by-step photos for this project. I was happily snapping away not realising that the SD card in my camera was not playing ball and only saving the odd photo here and there.
I started off by applying a coat of White Gesso to the pages and once it was dry, I spritzed with Faded Jeans Distress Spray Stain, mopping up most of the colour with a roll of kitchen towel in true Dyan Revealey style. I fixed Idea-ology Remnants and French Design Tape in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and applied a light coat of White Gesso on top with my finger. I stamped Darkroom Door Grid Texture inked with Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink randomly over the background.
I repeated with the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology inked with Ranger Red Carnation Archival.
I stamped the clock image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Inventor 1 with Black Soot Archival on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I stamped the Coffee Rings image from Darkroom Door Coffee Time with Versamark ink, sprinkled with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat set.
I stamped the coffee cups from Coffee Time with Ground Espresso Distress Archival 3 times on to Distress Watercolor card and twice on to Simon Says Masking Paper.
I fussy cut the cups, masked off the saucer on the bottom cup and painted the cup with Candied Apple Distress Paint. I stamped the small flower image from Simon Says Spring Flowers with Versamark ink, sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set. On the middle cup, I used a mini round blending tool to apply Faded Jeans Distress Paint to one of the dot stamps from Simon Says Lots of Dots and painted the handle using a small brush. On the top cup, I used the same technique with Candied Apple Distress Paint and another small flower image from Spring Flowers.
To continue the dot theme, I stamped Candied Apple Distress Paint dots randomly on the background. I coloured a piece of watercolor card with Candied Apple Distress Paint and stamped with the script image from Entomology using Black Soot Archival. I dusted the card with a powder tool and stamped the sentiment from Coffee Time with Versamark, sprinkled with white embossing powder, heat set and trimmed to create sentiment strips.
