Simon Says Stamp - Celebrate You - Mom

Hi folks, there has been mutiny in the cubbyhole crew ranks for the last few days because the SUN has had his hat on and due to this being an unusual and rare occurrence lately, we had a team vote and unanimously agreed to jump ship and spend the time outdoors, the Furry Boy snoozing and me chilling with a cuppa and topping up the essential Vitamin D.
But before I deserted my workdesk, I made another two cards with the Parental Props stamp set from Simon Says Stamp latest release, Celebrate You
and you can check out the products in the release HERE.
this time it was all about MOM so let's start with the card on the right
I trimmed Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Silver Sparkle Cardstock which was included in the Simon Says Stamp May Card Kit to 4" x 5.1/4", pounced on Intrigue and Villainous Alcohol Pearl Ink using an Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool and drops of Blending Solution.
Lo and behold, once the panel is dry, the beautiful shimmery sparkle re-appears. I die-cut the panel using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mixed Media 5 Thinlits

I stamped the sentiments from Parental Props with Versamark ink, heat embossed with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and Black Soot Distress Archival
and matted the panel on to an A2 White Card Blank and added Lucy's Little Things Ice Crystal Sequins

Card No 2
For this card, I decided to experiment with the Alcohol Pearl Inks on Tim Holtz Idea-ology Super Sparkly Self Adhesive Silver Deco Sheets which sadly have been retired but, being a Tim Holtz Addict, I just happen to have a sizeable stash tucked away in the cubbyhole vaults. I attached the Deco Sheets to white cardstock and applied the inks using the same technique as the first card and I think we can say the experiment worked, although it wasn't as easy to apply as it was on the proper Alcohol Ink Sparkle Cardstock. Time to order the Sparkle and Brushed Silver because it's all about the right tools for the job.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mixed Media 5 Thinlits again from white card and fussy cut around the right hand edge.
I fixed the die-cut panel to the Deco Sheet and added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Transparent Wings coloured on the back with Alchemy, Mineral and Smoulder Alcohol Pearl inks applied with the Alcohol Ink Applicator Tool

I inked the sentiments with Versafine Onyx Black, stamped on to scraps of white card, fussy cut and added Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink around the edges.
and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive and Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank and added Lucy's Little Things Ice Crystal Sequins.
It's going to be yet another skiving off from the cubbyhole kind of a day in the company of the Friday Girls so it looks like I'll be playing catch up over the weekend with the crafty list. Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned and I'll see you all on Monday to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.
Toodle-oo for now

  3. Kath, your pair is lovely! I love those colors and the 'simple' design that allows those beautiful inky backgrounds to shine! Thank you for documenting your experiment. I was going to give those old deco sheets a try, and now I know it works, although perhaps not the best solution. i hope you enjoy what's left of your beautiful weekend. Hugs!
