Simon Says - Masculine

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...

MASCULINE

We will be celebrating Father's Day soon in the UK so I made a card dedicated to all the great Dads out there using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Dapper, Sizzix Alphanumeric Bulletin and The Park Thinlits, Idea-ology Photographic Collage Paper, Ruler Pieces, Machinery Heads and Word Tag.

I've been missing from the cubbyhole lately, super busy with the on-going  "will it ever be finished" renovation of my bedroom/en suite and with my back against the wall time-wise, I hit my reliable Distress background box for inspiration. I chose an A2 panel of Distress Watercolor card coloured with Frayed Burlap, Salvaged Patina and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Sprays. I stamped the gear and number images from Tim Holtz Dapper inked with Ground Espresso and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks. I die-cut the letters and umbrella 4 times from Idea-ology Classic KraftStock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric and The Park Thinlits and layered to create dimension. I added torn strips of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Photographic Collage Paper to the background using Distress Collage Medium and fixed the die-cuts on top.

I felt that the brown umbrellas used to create the "A" didn't stand out enough so I die-cut them again from pale cream cardstock and fixed over the original.

I spread Distress Collage Medium over the Idea-ology Machinery Heads with my finger, sprinkled with Walnut Stain and Salvaged Patina Distress Embossing Glazes and heat set. Remember that the metal will get very hot so leave aside to cool before attempting to pick up. No prizes for guessing how I know.

I added an Idea-ology Ruler Piece and one of the now cooled Machinery Heads

To finish, I added an Idea-ology Word Tag coloured with Salvaged Patina Distress Paint and rubbed back to create a shabby vintage look.

I trimmed the panel to 4" x 5.1/4", matted on to Idea-ology Black HeavyStock and fixed to an A2 white card blank.
