Hi my friends, if you've just come from the party on Tim's YouYube Channel to launch the Christmas 2023 Tim Holtz/Sizzix collection of dies and 3D Texture Fades, you are probably as excited as I am about all the fabulous new products. If you missed the Live, you can check out the release and the amazing inspirational projects from the Makers on Tim's Blog HERE or YouTube Channel HERE.
Our adorable Professor has done it again with another amazing release and as always, I found it hard to choose which ones to use for my makes for the Live but after much to-ing and fro-ing I decided to make a Christmas Decor item using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Etcetera Facades, Candleshop Colorize and Big Tidings Thinlits, Eclectic Elements Holiday Fabric, Sparkle 3D Texture Fade and Idea-ology Tiny Lights for that extra bit of Christmas magic.
I trimmed two pieces of the Eclectic Elements Holiday Fabric to be slightly larger than the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Etcetera Facades and also trimmed out the centre sections to leave a small border. I applied Distress Collage Medium to the Facades, laid on the fabric pieces, smoothed out with my hands and set aside, face down to dry. I applied strong double sided adhesive tape around all the edges and pulled the fabric into place, trimmed away any excess fabric on the corners and snipped into the fabric on the round section so that it would lay flat. I trimmed Vellum to cover the apertures on the Facades, embossed with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Sparkle 3D Texture Fade and fixed on the back of the Facades with strong double sided adhesive tape.
I tapped the stylus on my Tim Holtz Rub-On tool into a puddle of Distress Gilded Foundry Wax and applied to the raised dots on the embossed vellum and heat set. I should have done this step before I fixed the vellum to the Facades but, hey ho, making is sometimes a bit of a "making it up as you go along" adventure.
I also applied the Foundry Wax to Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Hinges with my fingers, heat set and used to join the Facades together.
I fixed a left over scrap of the Eclectic Elements Holiday Fabric to white card with Distress Collage Medium. I die-cut JOY from the fabric section and the shadow from Gold Idea-ology KraftStock 3 times using the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Big Tidings Thinlits, layered to add dimension and fixed to the Facade.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Candleshop Colorize Thinlits from a mix of Idea-ology Classic KraftStock and Gold Idea-ology KraftStock, assembled and fixed on the Facade background using Distress Collage Medium and foam squares to add dimension.
I die-cut the Big Tidings holly and berries from Idea-ology Classic KraftStock 4 times, layered to add dimension and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium. I die-cut the berries from Distress Watercolor card and inlaid the berry highlight piece back into the negative spaces and used the red berry highlight from the first die-cuts to decorate the embossed vellum.
I used the trims which are included in the Facades pack to create a double ledge around the edges of the Facades, to give enough depth to accommodate the tiny lights and so that the item would stand up on a table or mantlepiece. I covered the outside edges of the trims with Design Tape but unfortunately forgot to take a photo of that step.
I fixed the Idea-ology Tiny Lights in place using hot glue, placing the glue on the edges of the Facades or behind the die-cut sections so that it won't show from the front and used the bottom hinge to conceal the Tiny Lights wires crossing from one panel to the other. I added panels of Distress Watercolor card and Black HeavyStock trimmed to be slightly smaller than the Facades on the backside and fixed the Tiny Lights Battery pack in place with hot glue.
To finish I added Idea-ology Christmas Label Stickers.
I'll be back soon to share more projects using the Christmas release, in the meantime, have fun when you receive your Tim Holtz/Sizzix Christmas goodies.
So beautiful x
