New Home

I just love the new download from Pink Petticoat "Home Sweet Home" but the image wasn't quite big enough for the card I wanted to make so I resized it on the computer and paper pieced it to get the effect I wanted. More inking of edges and doodling and I seem to have a thing at the moment about houses or birdhouses.

I couldn't resist posting these cute little fellas and the naughty puppy made me smile. My own Buddy was very naughty this morning - he ran off chasing rabbits in a wood near our house and he was still missing after half an hour of my whistling and calling his name and as I walked back through the wood, here he was sitting in the car park beside a car - not ours I might add as we walk to the woods. I was glad to see him but oh so tempted to boot his bottom all the way home....he doesn't have an excuse he's nearly 2 years old but of course, he is a golden retriever known for their zany characters and a tendency to chance their luck but one look from those big brown eyes and all is forgiven.

Tag You're It Challenge

The challenge this week from Tag You're It is to create a tag with a Monogram....loved this challenge as I love using words and letters on my cards but decided to think outside of my comfort zone with a male themed tag seeing that it will be Father's Day soon.

DCM Challenge

From Me to You

This is just to say a BIG THANK YOU to all you wonderful people out there in blogland who have taken the time to pay me a visit and leave such kind comments - can't believe it's over 11,000 now. I too love to visit all of your blogs which are truly inspirational. I am amazed by all your wonderful creations and thank you for sharing them with us all. I never thought when I started how much I would enjoy blogging and hey when the old mojo deserts me, it's great to do a bit of hopping to kick start the thought process again. I love to read all your little stories about what's going on in your lives - it's like visiting friends for a coffee and a chat and although we've never met it's like being part of a great big family. Wow wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up - the world's first blogging convention and what a fun day that would be. From me to you.....keep on blogging....love you all.

Arty Girl Challenge # 37

The challenge this week from Arty Girlz is "Paint". Before I became addicted to card and paper, I taught ceramic painting so you could say I was addicted to paint and still have hundreds of pots of acrylic paint in every colour of the spectrum and can't bear to throw them away. Here is my cheeky take on the challenge. The papers are from that fab find at Costco. The decoupage image is from "Handyman" CD from CarolAnn's Studio and the chipboard alphabets are from a huge kit I got from QVC a couple of years ago which just goes on and on. Now there has been a bit of painting going on here. The chipboards were drybrushed using a stiff bristled brush - I find you get a smoother finish than just painting with acrylic paint especially on a surface like chipboard which isn't smooth. I then spattered the whole card with watered down acrylic, loaded onto to an old toothbrush and then running your fingers over the bristles until you get the effect you want. Mind you it's a good idea to cover your work surface with newspaper as it goes everywhere and this is usually what I look like after a bit of decorating.

DCM Anniversary Challenge

This is the 6th in the series of Anniversary Challenges from Daring Cardmakers and this week is 35th Anniversary which is Jade or Copper. I have been really busy this week with orders but all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl so I have managed to sneek in one or two challenges.The papers are from HOTP Cardmakers Ultimate Pack. I cut out the flowers and decoupaged them adding a little Diamond Stickles just to highlight. Coloured white ribbon with a Pink inkpad as I didn't have a ribbon that matched. The circle sentiment is from Craftwork Cards with a rose decoupaged in the centre.

2 Sketches 4U

2 Sketches 4U are the new kids on the block - a brand new sketch blog from the very talented Laura Davis and Kazan Clark. This promises to be a blog filled with fun, challenges, prizes, sketches and gorgeous cards. There are 2 sketches this week just to get the ball rolling.

Background paper is from the Laura Ashley Traditional Collection Paper Pad matted onto Dark Brown cardstock...flowers with smiley faces are cut with Cricut George & Basic Shapes from the Warm Cocoa Collection from "Now That's Funky" CD from ...Funky Hand adding small punched out circles and a little bit of doodling. The letters are from Brenda Pinnick Chipboard Alphabets.

Background paper is from the "Shabby Saturday" Collection available as a download from ....Funky Hand. Strip and matt faux stitched and matted onto black cardstock cut with a deckle edge. Flowers cut with Cricut George and Basic Shapes from black cardstock outlined with white dots adding a punched circle in the centre. Sentiment from Doodlebug All Mixed Up rub-ons....you can tell that I am really into my doodling and these rub-ons at the moment and there is definitely a little bit of a trend going on.

DCM Challenge

The challenge this week from Daring Cardmakers is "It's All in the Shape". I decided to use a tag shaped card which I think came from Craftwork Cards. Covered the front of the card with a sheet of the paper from Costco and overstamped it with a Tin Can Mail stamp from Inkadinkado. Stamped again onto a darker part of the paper and decoupaged just the flower heads adding some Diamond Stickles and Sakura Black Gel dots just to accent the individual flowers. The hearts, sentiment backer and torn paper are all from the same paper but just a pinkier part. Finished off with Doodlebug All Mixed Up Rub-ons for the sentiment, inked all the edges with Dark Brown Inkand added a pink twill ribbon.
Weather is dull and overcast here today so I am off to mow the lawn before the rain comes and then have a relax on the sofa with a cuppa doing the crosswords in the Sunday papers - my favourite Sunday pastime apart from crafting. And then....I suppose the hungry hordes will need to be fed.
