Simon Says - Get Lucky

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
GET LUCKY
I created an Art Journal page to celebrate life-long friendships and how lucky I have been to have such wonderful friends in my life using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collage Strips, Collage Layer Frames, Palette Ephemera and Stampers Anonymous Pressed Foliage, Entomology and Roses Layering Stencil.

I began by dragging a Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink pad over the pages in my Dylusions Small Creative Journal, spritzed with water and dried. I fixed Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collage Strips in place using Distress Collage Medium. I added torn strips of Idea-ology Design Tape, inked the images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Pressed Foliage and Entomology with Dusty Concord Distress Oxide/Speckled Egg and Black Soot Distress Archival inks and stamped randomly over the background.
I applied Distress Texture Paste through Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Roses Layering Stencil, sprinkled with Wilted Violet and Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Enamels and heat set when the paste had dried.
I fixed an Idea-ology Snapshot behind one of the Idea-ology Collage Layer Frames, fixed to a torn scrap of Distress Watercolor card and adhered to the page using Distress Collage Medium.
I added bits and pieces from Idea-ology Botanical Layers, Palette Ephemera and torn sections of Photographic Collage Paper.
To finish, I added Idea-ology Small Talk Stickers and splatters of Dusty Concord and Black Soot Distress Paints.

Simon Says - Poppy Perfection April Card Kit

Happy Easter Weekend my friends, I'm sharing a trio of cards made using the Tim Holtz Transparent Layers pack included in Simon Says Stamp Poppy Perfection April 2023 Card Kit. The kit has sold out but the individual items from the kit are still available to purchase HERE.

I fixed 4" x 5.1/4" panels from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Backdrops Vol 4 neutral papers to A2 white card blanks. I added torn strips of Palette Collage Paper to all 3 cards fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium. I fixed Idea-ology Transparent Layers which came in the kit to the cards, applying small dots of Distress Collage Medium behind the printed sections of the acetate. I applied Distress Texture Paste Opague through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bubbles Mini Layering Stencil from Set 5. I fussy cut poppies from one of the ModaScrap Spring Poppies 6" x 6" papers which also came in the kit, fixed to the panel with Foam Squares and used a Sakura Black Glaze Pen to add shine to the centres.
To finish I added Idea-ology Quote Chips Theories and a Quote Chip Label for the sentiments

If you arrived from the very talented Alberto Gava, you are in the right place but if you happen to get lost along the way, you will find a list of participants at the end of this post to help you get back on track.

I created a spring themed card using the Garden Fresh 6" x 8" stamp set.

I stamped the large jar image and Spring sentiment from the Garden Fresh stamp set on to an A2 panel of Distress Watercolor card, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink. I stamped the image again on to masking paper, trimmed and fixed over the stamped image. I stamped one of the smaller jars either side.
I coloured the images with Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Pencils using a Detailer Water Brush. I smooshed the Scattered Straw Distress Oxide ink pad on to the craft mat on my Glass Media Mat, spritzed with water, picked the ink up on to a piece of clear plastic and pressed on to the bottom of the panel.
I repeated this process with Salvaged Patina, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide inks and dried between each colour until I was happy with the background.
I applied a layer of Ranger Glossy Accents over the centre jar and once dry, sprinkled Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Enamel Powder over the background and heat set from underneath.
I coloured a scrap of Distress Watercolor card with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide, stamped the small sentiment from Garden Fresh, inked with Simon Says Intense Black ink and die-cut using a small tag die from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 Collector Thinlits.
I fixed the tag in place with foam squares and added a twine bow.

To finish, I inked around the edges of the panel with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool and fixed the panel to a 5" x 6.1/4" white card blank.

The next stop on the hop is the very talented Allison Frazier, so pop over to see what she has made with the release. For more inspiration, be sure to tune in tomorrow for Day 2 of the Beautiful Days Blog Hop and make sure you visit the Beautiful Days Gallery over on Simon Says Blog for more inspiration and where you can also share what you make with products from this release.
I'm off to put the kettle on, make a cuppa and enjoy visiting all the other stops on the hop.

Spring Is In The Air

Hi my friends, Spring is definitely in the air in my neck of the woods and I can't wait to get out into the garden and tackle a little spring tidy up. The spring flowers took a bit of a battering from the recent snow and heavy rain but they picked themselves up and are back treating me to a fabulous show of colour, isn't Mother Nature wonderful.

In the meantime, I've been having fun making Easter gifts for family and friends using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Salvaged Rabbits, Tiny Eggs and Barrels inspired by Tim's recent Easter/Spring Ideas video on YouTube which you can find HERE. It was just the kick up the butt I needed to make, instead of purchasing, looking and hoarding all these goodies. Tim also has a great video on how to colour the rabbits and eggs which you can watch HERE. Make yourself a cuppa, find a comfy sofa and enjoy.

I set up a little Easter production line, filled Idea-ology Barrels with 1" round styrofoam balls and packed with moss. I painted the Salvaged Rabbits with Walnut Stain Distress Paint and used a Sakura Black Glaze Pen for the eye once the paint was dry. I added Speckled Egg Distress Paint to the Idea-ology Tiny Eggs by rolling the eggs on my paint covered fingers, laid the eggs on kitchen towel to dry and then added splatters of Ground Espresso Distress Paint on. I spritzed the Idea-ology Bouquet Findings with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Spray, spritzed lightly with water and set everything aside to dry. Then it was time to assemble my Easter Woodland Scenes on wood slices from my stash. I added some sticks from the garden and fixed the barrels, rabbits, tiny eggs, flowers and lots of moss to fill in the gaps with the help of my trusty Hot Glue Gun.

Happy Crafting and have fun with whatever you are making.

Simon Says - Add Texture

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

It's the first challenge of the month when we showcase one particular brand or company and this week we are all using some of the fabulous products from Tonic Studios.  You don't have to use them to join in with the challenge but if you have them in your stash, we would love to see how you use them.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Ann Chuang as our Designer In The Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog before, pop over, you will be in for a real treat.
The theme for this week is...
ADD TEXTURE
I created a card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mosaic 3D Texture Fade, Idea-ology Backdrops Vol 5 paper and a Transparent Layer to add texture to the background. I used Tonic Studios Vintage White Vellum, coloured with Distress Paints and die-cut with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Modern Floristry, Funky Floral Large and Wildflower Stems 2 to create layered flowers and leaves.

I trimmed paper from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Backdrops Vol 5 and attached to an A2 panel of white cardstock. I applied Distress Paint (Shaded Lilac/Dusty Concord - Bundled Sage/Rustic Wilderness - Wild Honey to sheets of Tonic Studios White Vintage Vellum using the small Distress Brayer. I placed a panel of the green vellum in Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mosaic 3D Texture Fade, ran through my die-cutting machine and highlighted the high points on the debossed side using a Black Soot Distress Oxide ink pad. I tore the vellum into sections and fixed to the patterned paper panel using small dots of Distress Collage Medium.
I die-cut the flowers and leaves from Distress Watercolor card and twice from the coloured vellum using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Modern Floristry, Funky Floral Large and Wildflower Stems 2 and layered to create dimension, only applying adhesive on the flower centres.
I stamped the flowers with the background stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology, inked with Black Doot Distress Archival ink.
I applied White Gesso to the back of the Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Transparent Layer to make it slightly less transparent in the centre area.
I fixed the Transparent Layer in place with Distress Collage Medium and added splatters of White Gesso to the background and flowers. I sprinkled the flower centres with Stampendous Aged Black Chunky Embossing Enamel, heat set from underneath and fixed the flowers and leaves in place with Distress Collage Medium. I added Idea-ology Long Fasteners, hammered with the new Texture Hammer to create texture.
I added a label from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Palette Ephemera lightly coloured with Distress Bundled Sage applied with my finger and Idea-ology Specimen Remnant Rubs.
To finish I matted the panel on to white cardstock trimmed to be 1/8" larger and fixed to a 5.1/4" x 6.5" white card blank covered with Idea-ology Black KraftStock
