Papertake Weekly Challenge...Sketch 36

Morning folks....a wee bit late in posting this morning....this decorating malarkey is beginning to take its toll....3 days demonstrating at the SECC was far easier than painting this bedroom ceiling and the bad news...it's going to need another 2 coats....but all work and no play is tres boring....so I cut loose to play with inks instead of paint.
The challenge this week over at Papertake Weekly is a sketch from the queen of sketches herself...my lovely bloggy bud....Dawny P....and I decided to rotate the sketch and set myself another little challenge into the bargain....will explain further down.

Background created with Hero Arts Soft Sand Shadow Ink and Stripes Patterns inked with TH Distress Ink Pad...Shabby Shutters
Flowers and Leaves....Hero Arts...Big Flower stamped onto grunge paper
coloured with Aged Mahogany....Barn Door...Antique Linen and Shabby Shutters
ribbon and bow made with grunge paper
Sentiment: Chipboard Letter
HOTP Sentiment Clear Stamp Set
Button...Basic Grey

And the other challenge......this is for the lady who engaged me in conversation at the SECC about Tim Holtz....can't remember her name but she did mention that she sometimes reads my blog.....she couldn't understand why everyone thought he was so wonderful... thought his stuff was awful....exact words...dark..dreary and dire......was she trying to wind me up....I know his style isn't to everyone's taste but give credit where credit is due.....he is one mega talented crafter.   It's a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion but to say that to me of all people....his biggest fan who thinks he can walk on water...was like a red rag to a bull...and I replied that she ought to wash her mouth out with soapy water.   And because the maestro wasn't there to defend himself.... this old girl is taking up the challenge and coming out with all guns blazing to prove that you can use Tim's products in lots of different ways and the result doesn't have to be dark and grungy.   Remember to check back tomorrow to see who has won the Fiskars punch.....off to do another coat on the ceiling and can you tell I'm ecstatic at the thought.
