then it was the turn of the Furry Warrior to crank up my stress levels...to cut a long story short...he stumbled coming up the steps to the back door that morning giving out a very loud yelp...quite happy to go down the steps but flatly refused to come back up requiring Mum and Dad to lift him...despite having now lost 3kgs...it's no easy task trying to hoist a 5 stone furry bundle shaped like a coffee table. So time for a trip to the vet (think we need to take out a season ticket) who was baffled as to where the pain was coming from...one painkilling injection and booked in for x-rays on Thursday which showed that there's a problem with his shoulder joint...whether he's jarred it at some point we'll never know but the healing process involves lots of rest...crikey this is a mad Golden Retriever we're talking about who is not best pleased that the forest walks are on the back burner for a while...strolls are curtailed to 10 minutes maximum on the lead around the block with daily doses of an anti-inflammatory medicine. It's important for the healing process that we try and maintain the weight loss especially as he'll be getting less exercise for the foreseeable future...no problem I suspect as we are all going to be on bread and water for the rest of the month after paying the "who's saying OUCH now" bill.
But come Friday things were looking up....the kitting marathon for the Fiskars Workshops at The NEC is done and dusted...after much chopping...

inky spritzing
and stamping
the kits are good to go...
time to get them packed up to await the arrival of Mr Hermes to speed them on their way to Birmingham and in celebration of a brand new week and retain the little bit of sanity I have left...I'm hitting the road with the Friday Girls who by the way have suggested we need a new name for our motley crew...The "WHATEVER DAY TAKES YOUR FANCY" Girls.
Hugs Kath xxx
Oh, poor Buddy! And your poor wallet for sure!! Hope this week is much better!
ReplyDeletePoor Buddy, hope his shoulder heals quickly. Sending lots of hugs.
ReplyDeleteOh Kath. I feel for you. Buddy not getting out for his long, burn off the energy walks is not good for him or your self, the forest walks are the ones that he gets rid of his energy and you get that peaceful, clear the mind walk.
ReplyDeleteIt goes to show how easy it is for these bounding fur balls can get hurt so easily, at least it was on the door step ( excuse the pun) but would have been terrible out in the woods miles from the car. Yes vets aren't cheap, but then again you don't have to wait in A&E for hours like we do. Enjoy your day. Hazel xx
Hi Kath, it has been an expensive week for you, hopefully Buddy will recover with some rest. It must have been awful for folks in the years before the start of the NHS, deciding whether they could afford to visit a doctor. Your front room will look lovely and fresh in time for Christmas, have a good day with the girls, weather forecast is not great this week...Trish
ReplyDeleteWishing Buddy well (fingers crossed he will behave during this "limited exercise" period).
ReplyDeleteSounds like you really need that 'time out' with the girls - have a fun time.
Toni xx
Oh dear the dreaded shoulder injury, I know that too well. Poor Buddy I feel for him. Enjoy your day out with the girls x
ReplyDeletePoor Buddy, hope his shoulder recovers soon.... we share your pain, DH has a shoulder injury and trips to Physio every week are eye-watering!
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the kits for the NEC and also the new name for the Friday Girls! Hugs, Anne xx
Oh poor Buddy! Lots of hugs for the furry fella.
ReplyDeleteIt may not be much of a consolation, but as I was having a wee spend at the Craftwork Cards stall at the GNPE yesterday, I happened to overhear a lady extolling your virtues. Got to be good to know your work is being appreciated, no? x
