Simon Says...Masculine

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

This week the Design Team are showcasing Darkroom Door Products...you don't have to use them for the challenge but if you have any of their products we would love to see what you make with them.
And I'm absolutely thrilled delighted and over the moon that my lovely super talented friend Anne Redfern aka Redanne will be joining us in the Guest Designer Spotlight for June...if you haven't visited Anne's blog yet you are in for a real treat.
and the theme for this week is...
MASCULINE
I've had an obsession with books from the day I learnt to read and believe you're never too young to take the first steps on that magical adventurous journey that comes from having your nose stuck in a book so I decided to decorate a Tim Holtz Small Etcetera Tag with one of my favourite Darkroom Door stamp sets...Bookworm and how true is the sentiment from this stamp set...So Many Books...So Little Time...after six decades I'm still playing catch up...
I started off by applying a coat of Gesso to the tag and while it was wet stuck down some torn sections of book paper.
A little bit of finger painting with Distress Paint...Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters and Pumice Stone followed.
I then applied Grit Paste through the Clockwork Layering Stencil and when it was dry...applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Matte ready for some Distress Crayon colouring...
I scribbled and blended the Distress Crayons with my fingers until I was happy with the background and then stamped the script image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous The Chemist with Black Archival...
and the clock image from a stamp set I got at a Tim Holtz workshop (don't know the name) with Red Carnation Archival...
I stamped the book images from Bookworm with Potting Soil Archival on to Distress Mixed Media Heavystock...cut out and fixed to the tag with Distress Collage Medium Matte...
I coloured some of the books with Distress Markers...added Paper Dolls and shaded around the books and Paper Dolls with Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon. I rubbed the Picket Fence Distress Crayon over the Clockwork sections to lighten...
I die cut the spectacles from the Hipster Goat Framelits set...coloured with the Candied Apple Distress Crayon and darkened the edges with Gathered Twigs and added Idea-ology Ball Chains.
I stamped the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Label Frames with Potting Soil Archival on to Mixed Media Heavystock...overstamped the script from The Chemist and the letters from Type Lower with Black Archival adding Label Letters to complete the word.
added a Hinge Clip coloured with Candied Apple Distress Paint...
I coloured the edges of the tag and the Idea-ology Typography letters with Black Soot Distress using a blending tool and as an afterthought dabbed on some Candied Apple.
I stamped the sentiment "So Many Books...So Little Time" with Potting Soil Archival on to Distress Mixed Media Heavystock...cut apart and added to the tag and again with Black Archival and added to the Idea-ology Watch Cameo...
