Simon Says...Let's Take A Vacation

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
LET'S TAKE A VACATION
I created a Mini Suitcase for a rather Dapper gentleman to take on his travels with lots of room inside to store mementoes of his vacation.
I've always wanted to make one but paper engineering is not one of my talents so I hopped over to YouTube and found a fabulous tutorial HERE from Alexandra and decided to give it a go. I did however alter the size of the album so I'm going to share the measurements and scoring details with you.
You will need 2 pieces of Kraft Card
cut to 5" x 9.5" and scored at 1.1/2"...3.5"...7.5"
cut to 5" x  6" and scored at 4"
I applied Ranger Wonder tape to the section on the right hand side of the larger piece of Kraft card which is the bottom of the box and fixed the two pieces together...
and then covered each section with papers from Tim Holtz Dapper Paper Stash Pad cut slightly smaller to leave a border around the edge of each section...
and repeated on the inside leaving the section where the two pieces of card were joined together (the bottom of the box) blank because this is where the hidden binding section will be fixed.
I cut a strip of Kraft card to measure 7.3/4" x  4.5" and scored on the long side at
1/4"... 3/4"...1.1/4"...1.5"...2"...2.5"... 2.3/4"...3.1/4"...3.3/4"
4"...4.5"...5"...5.1/4"...5.3/4"...6.1/4"...6.5"...7"...7.5"
creating an accordion fold strip
I applied glue to the inside of the 1/2" strips and pinched them together until the glue set...this is what it looks like from underneath.  I was struggling to get my head around this bit of the process but once I applied Wonder tape and Multi Medium Matte to the underside...
and fixed it in place...it made sense...you have 6 - 1/2" either side mountains with 1/4" valleys in between and a 1/4" section at each end...simples...
I cut 6 pieces of Kraft card cut to 3.3/4" x 10" scored on the long side at 4.3/4" and 9.5" and folded to create the pockets.
covered both sides with paper...applied Muti Medium Matte to both sides of each mountain section...
and fixed the pockets in place...
you can personalise your album by adding extra pockets on the covers...create tags and inserts to pop into the pockets but let's move on to decorating the outside of the suitcase album. I created the straps and handles from strips of Idea-ology Substrate Sheets and added buckles and brads.
I stamped Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Label Frames with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide on to Mixed Media Heavystock and overstamped with images from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Correspondence with Fired Brick and Peeled Paint Distress Oxides...
I die cut Sizzix/Tim Holtz Dapper from Mixed Media Heavystock and coloured with Distress Oxides and Distress Markers...
and fixed to the front of the suitcase with 3D foam pads...
added Idea-ology Travel Design Tape and Idea-ology Lost and Found Salvage Stickers to the front of the suitcase...
and also the back and finished off by adding faux stitching to the straps and handles...
