and the theme for this week is...
TOUCHY FEELY
we would like to see you using texture on your projects this week
and forgive me but I couldn't resist decorating another Small Etcetera tag...
a great surface to work on and even the small tag allows you plenty space to get creative
I started off by cutting a piece of gorgeous paper from the Memoranda Paper Stash Pad slightly larger than the tag...
and partially die cut the Thinlits Detailed Butterflies using Sizzix Dimensional Cutting Pad...if you haven't used this amazing tool before...you can watch Tim demonstrating how it works HERE...but basically it cuts around the edges of the butterfly but leaves the centre intact...the section covered by the central groove on the plate...
I then die cut the second layer of butterflies from a lighter paper...inked around the edges with Walnut Stain and set aside...
I fixed the paper to the tag with Distress Collage Medium Matte carefully lifting the butterfly wings out of the way, added torn strips of the botanical flowers from one of the papers. Once it was thoroughly dry I sanded the edges to remove the excess paper. Personally I find sanding gives a neater finish on the edges than using scissors.
I applied Ranger Opaque Crackle Texture Paste through the Stone Layering Stencil and treated myself to a cup of tea while I waited for the magic to happen.
I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium Vintage...
scribbled with a Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon...rubbing it into the crackles with my finger...
and then highlighted with Picket Fence
I stamped the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anomymous Etcetera with Versamark and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder...
added strips of Design Tape Butterfly...
fixed the top layer of the Detailed Butterfly die cuts in place and added a knotted piece of twine to the body section...
I die cut the scroll from white card and Taylored Expression Peach Felt...I know it looks brown...it's that old "camera doesn't lie" scenario that us crafters know only too well and the Small Tattered Florals from White Felt...
and die cut "Beautiful" using Sizzix/Tim Holtz FriendshipWords Script Thinlits...once from black card and 4 times from white to create dimension and offset to create a drop shadow. I finished the sentiment by adding Idea-ology Label Letters.
and added a double twine bow and black pearls to the centres of the flowers...
