Simon Says...Road Trip

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
ROAD TRIP
In today's world, a road trip usually means jumping in the car but I'm venturing down memory lane for this week's project inspired by happy times back in the day when my little Sis and I, during the school holidays, would jump on our bicycles to seek out new adventures, returning home happy as larry with mucky faces and nine times out of ten, torn breeks (trousers).

Of course, I had to use my favourite mixed media surface, an Etcetera MediumTag and Memoranda, one of my all-time favourite Tim Holtz Paper Pads.
I fixed the Memoranda paper to the tag using Distress Collage Medium Matte, added torn strips of contrasting paper, a light coat of Distress Collage Medium Vintage randomly over the top and once it was dry, I sanded the edges to remove any excess paper. I die cut Stacked Deckle panels from Idea-ology Substrate Sheets and Memoranda paper, used Mixed Media 5 Thinlits to die cut the floral image and fixed the panels together.
I die cut a larger stacked deckle panel from white Substrate Sheet and stamped with the Botanical background from Botanical and Batik and the script from Entomology with Iced Spruce and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.
I fixed the die cut panel to the tag and added Ranger Opague Texture Paste through the Mosaic Layering Stencil.
From here on in, I got a little bit engrossed in the creative process, so the step by step photos are a bit higgedly-piggedly I added the Paper Dolls, coloured with Distress Markers and some shading around the frame with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. I stamped the image from Ornate Trims with Vintage Photo Archival ink randomly on the background and highlighted the centres of the flowers with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.
I added Quote Chips and die cut the bicycle multiple times from white cardstock, cutting off the wheels from two of the die cuts to add to the background.
I die cut the flowers using Funky Floral 1 Thinits from Distress Oxide inked backgrounds left over from a previous project and Classic Kraft Cardstock.
I added two layers of Idea-ology Lace Trimmings along the bottom of the die cut panel and fixed the Funky Floral die cuts and Idea-ology Bouquet Findings in place with Ranger Multi Matte Medium. I layered up the bicycle die cuts, coloured with Distress Markers and added Idea-ology Jump Rings to the wheels.
I added Idea-ology Tiny Text Remnant Rubs, Nailheads and Jump Rings filled with Glossy Accents to the flowers.

an Idea-ology Story Stick, a twine bow and Chit Chat Design Tape. I finished off  applying Black Soot Distress Paint to the edges of the tag using a mini round blending tool.

  7. Love your tag and the memories it holds, Kath! I really like how you interpreted road trip by going into your memories. Our biking adventures as kids sound similar as I often came home with skinned knees, dirty, but happy. hugs, Maura
