Simon Says -Things With Wheels

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
THINGS WITH WHEELS
I'm using a bit of artistic licence on this project because, although my original plan did involve a thing with wheels, I got distracted and ended up using an Idea-ology Mini Clipboard which, of course, is a thing and has been decorated with wheel images and die-cuts.

But let's get started. I removed the clip section from the Clipboard and painted on a coat of White Gesso to seal the porous surface and added a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint.
Once the paint was dry, I spritzed the clipboad liberally with water, added Frayed Burlap Distress Paint to the top edge and spritzed with water again, allowing the paint to drip down to create the look of a stained, tattered page in an old notebook.
I stamped the Lined Background from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Cosmopolitan and Lined with Red Geranium Archival Ink
and the image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Inventor 7 with Hickory Smoke Archival Ink (Wheel No 1)
The Mini Layering Stencil from Set 41, one of Tim's latest releases, reminded me of wheels so I used it with Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide ink to add some colourful interest to the background (Wheel No 2)
I applied Ranger Opaque Texture Paste through the Mosaic Layering Stencil (Wheel No 3) and it was at this point, I went completely off tangent and couldn't resist adding a little bit of floral artistic licence.
I die-cut the flowers from Distress Watercolor Card using Tim Holtz/Stampers/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits and coloured using Distress Oxide re-inkers and a Detailer Brush.
I stamped the letters from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Block Print (and I can tell you now, this is going to be a favourite alphabet stamp set) with Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide ink on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor Card coloured with Antique Linen Distress Paint
and die cut using a small Sizzix Framelits Circle Die. I fixed the flowers and alphabet circles in place and added Wheels No 4 die cut from card coloured with Antique Linen and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide inks using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Gearhead Thinlits.
I painted the clip with White Gesso, followed by two coats of Antique Linen Distress Paint. I applied a thickish coat of Distress Rock Candy Clear Crackle and once the magical cracks had appeared, rubbed Gathered Twigs and Aged Mahogany Distress Crayons into the detail, wiped back with a soft cloth and fixed the clip back in place. I coloured Idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon with Antique Linen and Tattered Rose Distress Spray Stain and tied on to the clip with a double bow.
To finish, I added Ranger White Enamel Accents to the flowers and Gearhead circles, splatters of  Hickory Smoke Distress Spray Stain and Idea-ology Clippings Stickers

By the time you're reading this, I'll be at Stitches, the UK Craft Trade Show in Birmingham in the company of some very special friends and no doubt, we'll be spending lots of time in Wetherspoons chatting, setting the world to rights over a yummy lunch followed by loads of cups of coffee. I'll be sharing all the gossip and lots of photos once I'm back home.
