Simon Says - Not A Card

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
NOT A CARD
I decorated a plain white gift bag using some of the new Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 Seasonal Dies to show how you can get more bang for your buck from your dies and created a Happy Birthday Treats Bag with a Summer colour palette using Distress Oxide re-inkers.

I wanted the background of the bag to be fairly simple and used a favourite technique to create a quick and easy background by smooshing Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink on to my Glass Media Mat, spritzing with water, picking the ink up on some plastic, pressing it on to the gift bag with my fingers and repeating until I was happy with the coverage.
I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Cauldron from Sizzix Matboard and Distress Watercolor card. I used the Crackle 3D Texture Fade to create a quilted look on the Distress Watercolor card die-cut. One side of the Texture Fade creates the crackle, the other side quilted, two effects for the price of one.
I coloured the sections using Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide re-inkers and a Distress Detailer Brush, leaving some of the sections white to create a Quilted (almost looks like fabric) holder for the Sweet Treats.
I die-cut the lollipops and wrapped candies from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Sweet Treats Thinlits and coloured with Worn Lipstick, Evergreen Bough, Squeezed Lemonade, Shaded Lilac and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Re-inkers.
I used Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink to add shading around the Sweet Treats using a mini round blending tool. I applied Distress Collage Medium to the lollipops and dusted liberally with Distress Clear Rock Candy Glitter using the Glitter Duster. I covered the wrapped candies with Glossy Accents and set aside to dry. To prevent the treats sticking to the scrap paper, I popped them up on strips of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive which allows the air to circulate around them, speeding up the drying process.
I die-cut HAPPY from Sizzix Matboard using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Handmade BigZ XL die, coloured the letters by smooshing them around in the Distress Oxide inks on my Glass Media Mat, applied a light coat of  Distress Collage Medium Matte and dusted them liberally with Distress Clear Rock Candy Glitter.
I inked the Birthday sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Simple Sayings with Black Soot Distress Archival, stamped on to a scrap of Distress Watercolor card, trimmed and edged with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool.
I cut off the back section of the Cauldron and used Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink with a mini round blending tool to add shading to both pieces. I wound Hemptique White Twine around the main section and tied in a double bow. I fixed the back section in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte, popped the front section up on Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension and added the die-cut letters and sentiment.
I fixed the Sweet Treats die cuts in place using Distress Collage Medium Matte and Mini Foam Adhesive.
