Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 - Nordic Winter Neutrals

Hi folks, I've become a little bit obsessed with a certain die called Nordic Winter from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 release and before I set this amazingly versatile die aside and concentrate on the other dies, I treated myself to one more play and created a set of 6 cards to kick-start this year's mission to make boxes of cards for local charities. When you have the supplies on your workdesk anyway and a pile of left-over bits and pieces to be used up, it's just as easy to make 6 cards as it is one. If the truth be known, I'm currently in quick and easy/working part-time mode because come 1.00pm, the cubbyhole is closed for business and everything stops for tennis.

I chose a neutral palette of black/grey and brown/kraft for my set of clean and simple, have to be quick to make, set of cards and gathered supplies.
Nordic Winter Thinlits die/Star Trim Impresslits
Scraps of Idea-ology Classic KraftStock, sanded back to reveal the kraft core
and Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets fixed on the back
Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Glorious Gatherings, Simple Sayings and Brushstrokes
I trimmed white cardstock to create 6 - 4.1/4" x  5.1/4" cards, inked the Brushstrokes image with Hickory Smoke and Pumice Stone Distress Oxide inks, spritzed the stamp with water and stamped on the cards.
I used scraps of Classic Kraft Stock to die cut only what I needed for the cards - the houses, larger trees, deer and large stars, die-cutting whole panels and ending up with an even bigger mountain of waste was not on the cards, forgive the pun
I fixed the die-cuts on the background, added a torn strip of Classic KraftStock to ground them, die-cut the gorgeous and very detailed Star Trim 3D Impresslits which I cut into small strips and attached to the cards with Distress Collage Medium Matte.
I inked the sentiments from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Glorious Gatherings and Simple Sayings with Black Soot and Vintage Photo Distress Archival inks and stamped on the cards, mixing up the sentiments from the two stamp sets.

I added Lucy's Little Things Ice Crystal sequins to add just a little touch of Christmas bling..

Have a great weekend whatever you are planning. ME, I'll be glued to the TV for what I suspect is going to be a spectacular weekend of tennis and woohoo I'll be cheering on my hero, the mighty Federer who, and I don't want to tempt fate, has had a fairly easy ride so far through to the semi final but now faces Rafa and I have a sneaky feeling that is going to be a cracker of a match. Let the best man win and roll on the Men's Final on Sunday.
Toodle-oo for now
Hugs Kath xxx

  1. You more or less persuaded me yesterday that I 'need' this die but today I must now have it! Your CAS cards are gorgeous, I just love the simplicity of the design and yet there is so much to see on each one. So, so beautiful! Hugs, Anne xx

Seems to me like we could be soul sisters - or at the least enjoy a good cup of coffee once in a while - if only we weren't so darn far apart!

  10. Thanks so much, Kath. I only recently discovered this post and I love these cards. I'm giving it a try, even though Tim's Nordic Winter die is now unavailable. My cards won't look quite like yours, but . . . oh, well. :P
