Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous - Snarky Cat Christmas

Hi my friends, woohoo did you tune in to Saturday's fabulous and fun Facebook Live launch of Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmas 2020 release, so many amazing new stamps and stencils and incredibly inspiring samples from the wonderful makers. If you missed it, you can catch up with all the fun over on Tim's blog HERE. Stamping is my jam so I was honoured and thrilled to be invited to make samples for the launch, a huge thank you to Tim, Mario, Paula and Stampers Anonymous for including me in the creative fun. I was giddy with excitement to see another set of Snarky Cats and am  sharing the four cards I made, seriously did you think I would be able to choose just one out of this adorable quartet of felines with cat-titude, all ready to make some Christmas mischief.

I began by trimming Distress Watercolor card to create 4 - 3.3/4" x 5.3/4" panels. I hand cut masking paper to make snow borders for the bottom edge of the panels and used a Sizzix Circle Thinlits to create masks for the moon. It's important to place the moon mask over the snow border mask for a technique to add colour to the moon later on.
I used Distress Oxide inks to colour the panels, applied with a mini round blending tool, spritzed with water and dried.
The colours used are Top Left...Weathered Wood, Speckled Egg and Stormy Sky - Top Right...Black Soot and Fossilized Amber - Bottom Left...Black Soot and Crackling Campfire and Bottom Right...Chipped Sapphire and Dusty Concord. Once I had the colours blended, I removed the moon mask, spritzed around the edge of the moon with water and let the inks run into the moon to create a moody spooky effect. Leaving the snow border mask in place at this stage means that the snow area will stay white - you don't want drips of ink ruining your pristine piste.
I dried the moon sections, removed the snow border masks and stamped the four snarky cats and the Meowy Christmas sentiment inked with Black Soot Distress Archival ink. I inked the snowflake image with Distress Embossing ink, sprinkled with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat set.
I stamped the snarky sentiments beneath each image along with the adorable bird. I coloured the images with Distress Re-inkers using a Distress Detailer Brush and added shading around the images and the snarky sentiments using the Hickory Smoke Distress Reinker.
To finish I added dots of Distress Collage Medium Matte on the bottom of the panels, sprinkled with Distress Mica Flakes and matted the panels on to 4" x 6" white card blanks.
I'll be back soon to share more makes with the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous 2020 Christmas Collection and back tomorrow to share my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, which, as it happens, also features a Snarky Cat.

Happy Crafting and have fun with whatever you are creating.
Hugs Kath xxx
