Tim Holtz/Sizzix - Alphanumeric Varsity

Hi my friends, I'm sharing a simple card I made for the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 YouTube Live using Alphanumeric Varsity Thinlits, great for making cards for the men in your life, which some find difficult and hey, you didn't hear it from me, but some might say that men can be difficult full stop but that's a whole other subject. This card would be easy to batch make, just changing up the colours and embellishments to suit the recipient. My friends will tell you that I have an obsession with alphabets and I love how you can mix and match the different components of this die set to create the look that you want using just the outline, just the solid or both together, it's one of those more bang for your buck must-haves. If you missed the Live, you can catch up with all the new goodies and amazing inspirational projects from the makers over on Tim's Blog HERE.

I began with an A2 panel of Distress Media HeavyStock and spritzed the back of Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Flourish Layering Stencil with Hickory Smoke and Barn Door Distress Spray Stains and pressed the stencil on to the panel to create a monoprint effect. I fixed Sizzix Adhesive sheets to white, red and brown cardstock, die-cut using the Alphanumeric Varsity Thinlits and arranged on the panel. The advantage of using the adhesive sheets is that, although they are a permanent adhesive, you have a little play allowing you to move letters around until you are happy with the placement and press them down firmly.
I stamped the hat and tie from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Distinguished, inked with Vintage Photo and Barn Door Distress Archival inks and die-cut using the matching set of Framelits.
I wasn't happy with the colour of the stamped tie, so instead, die-cut twice from the red card, layered and fix in place over the letters with Distress Collage Medium. I added the hat popped up on foam adhesive, an Idea-ology Mini Flair button and Sentiments Label Sticker.
I trimmed the panel to be slightly smaller than A2, inked around the edge of the panel with Ground Espresso Distress ink using a mini round blending tool
and fixed to an A2 white card blank.
I'll be back soon to share another Chapter 3 project, in the meantime have fun with whatever you are making.
Hugs Kath xxx
