Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 - Specimen Thinlits

Hi my friends, I'm sharing the project I made for the YouTube Live launch of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Chapter 3 - an album with a garden theme and pages created with file folders die-cut using Specimen Thinlits. If you missed the Live, you can catch up with all the amazing dies and Texture Fades in this fabulous new must-have collection and check out all the amazing inspiring projects from the Makers on Tim's YouTube Channel HERE or Blog HERE.

I trimmed Distress Kraft HeavyStock to create the album, coloured Distress Watercolor card using Antique Linen/Old Paper Distress Spray Stains and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray and trimmed panels to cover the outside and inside of the album.
I used Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios Media Grip to hold the panels in place - how did I ever manage without this magical material.
I lined the panels up on the Media Grip and stamped randomly using the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Entomology and the circle from Field Notes, inked with Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink.
I used Distress Kraft HeavyStock to create the folded section
and folded all the scored lines - you will have 6 mountains, 5 valleys and a 1/4" tab at each end. - this is what it should look like when you have completed this
I fixed Scor Tape to one side of each mountain, pressed together, fixed tape on the underside and fixed to the centre panel on the inside of the album. I also fixed the inked panels to the front and back of the album using Distress Collage Medium.
I scored and folded Distress Kraft HeavyStock to create 6 - panels, rounded the corners on one side and added Distress Collage Medium to the sides, leaving the side opposite from the fold without adhesive. I fixed strong double sided tape to the mountain sections of the centre panel and slid the panels into place.
I die-cut the file folders from Distress White and Kraft HeavyStock using the Specimen Thinlits. I coloured the white ones with Old Paper and Antique Linen Distress Spray Stains and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Spray.
I stamped the backgrounds from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Composition/Lined inked with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso on the outside of each folder.
I die-cut the file folders again from Idea-ology Memoranda papers, trimmed in half, cut off the tab section, fixed inside the folders and added Idea-ology Design Tape Trims.

I'm not going to bore you silly with all the steps to decorate each file folder, instead, here are some photos of the file folder pages (brace yourselves, grab a comfy sofa and a cuppa)

I fixed twill tape around the cover using Scor Tape, secured at the back with a brad and added a plaque die-cut from the Specimen Thinlits.
To decorate the front, I added die-cut plaques stamped with the Lined Background, Field Notes Snippets and the labels die-cut with the words and numbers from Specimen. I smeared Mined Foundry Wax on to Idea-ology Black KraftStock, heat set and die-cut flowers using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 2 and fixed one on the cover and several more on the file folders inside.
I applied Mined Foundry Wax to an Idea-ology Deco Frame, rubbing it over the detail with my finger and heat set. I stamped an image from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Field Notes on to a scrap of coloured card, fixed on the back, added pieces of mica and fixed to the cover using Distress Collage Medium.

I used a variety of Tim Holtz stamps, dies and Idea-ology bits and pieces to decorate the file folders, all linked below.
