Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Just a little reminder that your kids still have plenty time to join in with the fun at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Summer Vacation Kid's Challenge and you can find all the details on how to enter HERE.
Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
LET'S GO ON VACATION
I created an art panel inspired by many wonderful trips to New York using Dina Wakley Media Board, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Destination, Cityscape Skyline, Collector and Alphanumeric Theory Thinlits, Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Ticket Booth, Idea-ology Collage Paper, Remnant Rubs and Curator Ephemera Snippets.
I spritzed a 4.1/2" x 9" offcut of Dina Wakley Media Board with water and painted with a mix of Pumice Stone and Hickory Smoke Distress Paints.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Destination and Cityscape Skyline Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium and applied another layer of the paints on top. You are probably thinking I could have saved myself this extra step by attaching the die-cuts first but hey folks, that's what happens when you have a rough idea in your head and are just making it up as you go along. I added Idea-ology Typeset and Travel Collage Paper and sanded the die-cuts and the collage paper.
I die-cut the Alphanumeric Theory Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card and Idea-ology KraftStock from the Warm pack, layered to create dimension and sanded.
I die-cut the pocket folder from the same KraftStock using Collector Thinlits and gathered extra Collector die-cuts, Idea-ology Flashcard and Curator Ephemera Snippets ready to decorate the panel. I stamped Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Ticket Booth images on to the die-cut tickets inked with Vintage Photo Distress ink, inked the edges of the bits and pieces with the same ink and sanded all the pieces to create a vintage look.
I fixed all the pieces in place with Distress Collage Medium and added the pocket folder popped up foam adhesive.
I added a mix of Idea-ology Specimen and Numbered Remnant Rubs, all sanded to look more grungy and less conspicious.
To finish I applied Black Soot Distress Paint around the edges of the panels using a small piece of Ranger Cut 'n Dry Foam.
