Simon Says...Home Sweet Home

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's "It's A Frame Up" Challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
HOME SWEET HOME
I had lots of fun creating a framed panel to hang in my craft room using the amazing Sizzix/Tim Holtz Cityscape Suburbia and Commute Thinlits dies. I started off by adding torn strips of paper from the Idea-ology Memoranda Stash Pad and Suburbia die-cuts...cut from white cardstock to a panel of Distress Watercolor Card using Collage Medium Matte and applied a thin wash of White Gesso.
I smooshed Peeled Paint Distress Oxide on to my non-stick craft mat, spritzed with water and pounced the craft mat on to the card surface, dried, spritzed and pounced again until I was happy with the effect...
turned the card over and repeated with Broken China and Faded Jeans to create the sky...
I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Scribbles and Spirals inked with Faded Jeans and Birch and Pine inked with Walnut Stain to create some interest on the background...
I delved into my "bulk buy" stash of the original manila tags which I've been neglecting since the new Media Heavystock tags came to market and had a fun session creating lots of Distress Oxide backgrounds...
die cut the buildings along with their accessories and settled down with a cuppa...my trusty precision tipped bottle of Multi Medium Matte and sticky pick up tool to put them together...believe me when I say...this was a heart in my mouth "no sudden movements...no sneezing or tail-wagging from the Furry Boy" adventure...
I fixed some down flat...others with 3D foam to create dimension (how adorable is that washing line of cute clothes) and then created shadows around the buildings in the background using the Ground Espresso Distress Marker and Ranger Detailer Water Brush. I then decided to stamp the word "Home" with Tim's Block Lower Foam Stamps using Ground Espresso Distress Paint...immediately realised I'd made a bigga-mistakea...crikey was I going to have to start all over...
after the initial panic...the drastic measures lightbulb switched on...I die cut a Stitched Oval and used Alphanumeric Thinlits to die cut letters from white cardstock...created shadows with my black fineliner pen and voila...who would ever know.
I added Washi Tape from my stash along the bottom of the panel and the plane and cars from Cityscape Commute...

Idea-ology Label Letters...
Idea-ology Typography Findings...
Idea-ology Design Tape Chatter fixed to white cardstock and cut out to create individual words.

At Last There's "Happy Cubbyhole" News...

Hi folks...it's Friday and the sunshine has returned to my neck of the woods and what a glorious day it was for my lunch date with my crafty chum on Tuesday...what better place to be than Royal Deeside on the banks of the beautiful River Dee...

and I was planning on repeating the experience today with the Friday Girls but...hang on to your galluses...the hunky joiner is coming today to lay the new flooring in the cubbyhole and woohoo...the man with the big bucket of plaster is coming tomorrow...crikey I was beginning to despair of the whole thing and wishing I'd never started but hey ho...things are looking up...the new units are ordered and as soon as the plaster is dry...I'll be donning my painting duds for a hot date with a roller and tray.  But first we've got to get through the weekend...every room in the house...apart from the loo...is now a craft storage area...
even the Furry Boy's bed has been commandeered...he's not fussed one way or the other which is more than can be said for hubby...
Have a great weekend whatever you have planned and I'll catch up with you all on Monday with my DT project for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge...you still have time to join in with this week's "It's A Frame Up" Challenge with the chance to win a $50 spending spree at the Simon Says Stamp Online Store.
Toodle-oo for now

On The Assembly Line...

Hi folks...after almost a week of glorious sunshine...the weather has decided to revert to it's usual unpredictable self...come September we may be looking back and remembering that Summer consisted of that week way back in May...happened last year and the year before. And speaking of the unpredictable...surprise...surprise...the "butter wouldn't melt" wonky alarm clock is still up to his old tricks...
and I'm thinking I may just have to have to resign myself to the fact that if you can't beat them...you may as well join them...time to enrol as a member of  the "early to bed...early to rise-makes a man healthy wealthy and wise" club.
In the meantime I've been hitting the assembly line and having fun with Tim's new Assemblage goodies...I'm not really a jewelry person...in fact I don't even wear a watch but hey ho...you know me...anything Tim Holtz and I'm powerless to resist. So when my parcel arrived from Simon Says Stamp...
I dug out the jewelry making tools I bought from QVC many moons ago on a mad whim and started out rather gingerly...don't run before you can walk was my first thought...to make a simple personalised charm bracelet...
and you know what...it was so easy to make and I love it...
but I had to add some charms and beads from my stash and a few bits and pieces from Tim's
Idea-ology line...
because when they went on sale at Simon Says Stamp...I was in Paris and immediately went into panic mode...you know that "what if they sell out before I get home" feeling and frantically ordered a "willy nilly" assortment with no forward thinking or planning involved. So I need to go shopping again for a few more bits and pieces to add to the bracelet before I move on to the next Assemblage adventure...making a necklace or two...
Simon Says Stamp still has some of the Assemblage line available to buy HERE
and just when you think you're having a Happy Mail Day...the arrival of the item I've been lusting after since Tim revealed it on Facebook Live suddenly turned into a very ECSTATIC MAIL DAY...
I had a sneaky feeling I would love it but this "been around the block" crafter is absolutely blown away by the quality and design...love the easy to flip lid when using rubber or clear stamps...that little tab at the bottom makes opening and closing it a breeze...no constraints on the size of card...in other words...it does exactly what it says on the tin - effortlessly creating precision stamped images and in my humble opinion...leaves all the others on the market in it's wake. I know that lots of you are waiting for yours to arrive but hang in there...it is well worth the wait...you are going to love it.
But no crafting...stamping or jewelry making for me today...I've got my "lady who lunches" hat at the ready and I'm off to meet up with a crafty friend for a yummy lunch and lots of chatter.
