Set of Tags No 3

Hi my friends, the mission to catch up with the crafting list continues and I'm back to share the third set of tags using Simon Says Schoolhouse Red cardstock from yesterday's blog post using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Framed Tags Thinlits, Stampers Anonymous Perfect Plaids and Simon Says Fruitful Berries die. You can find out how I created the tag bases HERE.

I changed my mind about the original Schoolhouse Red tags because the Black Soot Distress ink just didn't show up well. Time to start over with another two tags. I placed the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Perfect Plaids background stamps on my Glass Media Mat, inked them with Versamark ink, pressed the tags on to the stamps, sprinkled with Simon Says Cream Embossing Powder and heat set.
I fixed Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Ephemera in place with Distress Collage Medium. I coloured the Fruitful Berries die-cuts with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink using a mini round blending tool, fading the colour out towards the tips of the leaves and fixed the die-cuts to the tags with Distress Collage Medium.
I left the berries white, added Ranger Glossy Accents and Distress Rock Candy Glitter. I flicked on droplets of Distress Resist Spray (over-did it, perhaps) sprinkled with Simon Says White Detail and Black Embossing Powders and heat set.
To finish I added hole re-inforcers coloured with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink, white seam binding and red bakers twine.

Enjoy your weekend and have fun with whatever you're making

Busy Making Tags

Happy Friday my friends, the weather has been absolutely frightful here, heavy rain and strong winds so I retreated to my happy place for a snug as a bug in a rug tag making session on the cubbyhole assembly line using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Framed Tags Thinlits, Stampers Anonymous Perfect Plaids and Simon Says Fruitful Berries die from the Holiday Sparkle release.I began by die-cutting a pile of tags from Distress Watercolor card which will be the backing for the finished tags and a place to write a festive message.I die-cut the middle sized Framed Tags from Simon Says Fog, Slate and Schoolhouse Red cardstock, a great way to use up left over pieces of card which are too small for card blanks or panels.I laid the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Perfect Plaids background stamps face up on my Glass Media Mat and inked and stamped by pressing the tags into the ink. I used Simon Says Fog Ink on the Fog Grey card, Black Soot Distress ink on the Schoolhouse Red and Simon Says White Pigment ink on the Slate cardstock.I grunged up the tags by dragging the Black Soot Mini Distress ink and Simon Says White Pigment ink pads over the edges.I die-cut Simon Says Fruitful Berries from Distress Watercolor card and laid out on the tags until I decided how I was going to decorate each tag.Let's start with the first set of tags on Fog Grey cardstockI coloured the Fruitful Berries stems with Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness and the berries with Lumberjack Distress Oxide inks with a mini round blending tool. To make the colouring easier, I popped the die-cuts back into the negative spaces, pressed on to a panel of Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios Media Grip which will hold the die-cuts in place for colouring and if you don't have Media Grip Sizzix Sticky Grid will work too. Woohoo, Media Grip is now back in stock at Simon Says Stamp, so run, don't walk before it sells out (link in supplies below)I applied Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmas Elements Stencil on the Fog Grey tags and added Idea-ology Christmas Ephemera.I flicked droplets of Distress Resist Spray on to the backgrounds, sprinkled with Simon Says White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I fixed the Fruitful Berries die-cuts in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte, added Ranger Glossy Accents to the berries and highlighted with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen when dry.

To finish I added hole re-inforcers coloured with the same colours as the stems and added red seam binding and bakers twine from my stash.

The tags on the Slate cardstock were created in the same way but I used a lighter hand when colouring the die-cuts to create a softer look.
I added Distress Opague Texture Paste through the falling snow stencil from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous STAMPtember 2022 stamp set, sprinkled with Distress Rock Candy Glitter and set aside to dry.
To finish, I added the hole reinforcers coloured lightly with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink and pink ribbon and grey bakers twine from my stash.

I'll be back soon to share the third set of tags, in the meantime, have fun with whatever you're making and enjoy your weekend.

The Bottlebrush Trees Assembly Line

Hi my friends, I've been missing from the cubbyhole recently because I decided, in my wisdom or stupidity, to give the kitchen and utility room a fresh coat of paint before Christmas. With Christmas only 5 weeks away I think I momentarily took leave of my senses but hey it's done and dusted and now I'm hitting the cubbyhole running to tackle the never ending crafty list. First, I'm making up packs of cards for a local charity close to my heart and when your back is up against the wall, assembly line crafting is the way to go using some of my favourite Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Christmas stamps with Lumberjack Plaid. Uncharted Mariner, Villainous Potion and Prize Ribbon, 4 of the new Distress colours, released in 2022.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 4" x 5.1/4" panels, placed the large circle stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Brushstrokes on the door of my Stamp Platform. inked with the Distress Oxide colours, spritzed with water, stamped on to the panels and dried.
I lined up 3 of the stamps from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Bottlebrush Trees on the door of my stamp platform and stamped on the panels, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
I inked the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Holiday Sketchbook with Versamark ink, stamped on to strips of Ranger Black Alcohol Ink cardstock, sprinkled with Simon Says White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set.
I stamped Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Retro Flakes, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival and fixed the sentiment strips in place with Distress Collage Medium.
I flicked spots of Distress Resist Spray on to the panels, sprinkled with Simon Says White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. I matted the panels on to A2 white card blanks and trimmed the edges with Tim Holtz/Tonic Deckle Edge Trimmer.
To finish I matched the cards with co-ordinating colours of Simon Says Stamp A2 envelopes.

I'll be back soon to share more Christmas makes and if I work 24/7 for the next 5 weeks, I think I might just get through that Christmas list of things to make.
Have fun with your Christmas makes.

Simon Says - Refined Snowflakes Card 3

Hi my friends, can you believe we're halfway through November already and it's turned decidedly chilly in my neck of the woods. Winter is definitely on the way so I've made another frosty winter vellum card with the Refined Snowflakes Embossing Folder and matching dies from Simon Says Holiday sparkle release. You can check out all the products from this fabulously festive release HERE.

I placed a panel of Simon Says Vellum into the Refined Snowflakes Embossing Folder, ran through my die-cutting machine and trimmed to 4" x 5.1/4".
I die-cut the snowflakes that come with the embossing folder from Simon Says Silver cardstock, lined up the dies with the matching design on the folder and ran through my die-cutting machine to emboss. I die-cut Simon Says Peace word 4 times from Distress Watercolor card and the shadow from the Silver cardstock and layered to create dimension. I fixed the snowflakes and sentiment to the vellum using Distress Collage Medium. I turned the vellum over and added Simon Says Foam squares behind the snowflakes and sentiments and fixed to Silver cardstock, trimmed to be 1/8" larger.
To finish I added Lucy's Little Things Silver Pearls mix, Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Christmas charm, twine bow and matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank.

Have fun with whatever you're making.

Simon Says - Refined Snowflakes Card 2

Hi my friends, I'm back to share a frosty winter card I made using the Refined Snowflakes Embossing Folder with matching dies from Simon Says Stamp latest release, Holiday Sparkle and you can check out all the products in the release HERE.

I dragged the Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink pad over the debossed side of the embossing folder, placed a 4" x 5.1/4" panel of Distress Watercolor card in the folder and ran through my die-cutting machine. I spritzed with water and patted with kitchen towel to remove some of the colour and create a softer background.
I die-cut the snowflakes that comes with the folder from Distress Watercolor card, placed them back into the folder and ran through my die-cutting machine to emboss.
To make sure the die-cuts were perfectly aligned, I placed them into the folder, adjusted by looking through the front of the folder and taped them in place.
I cut a strip of Vellum using Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios Deckle Edge Trimmer, folded to the back of the panel and fixed in place with adhesive tape. I die-cut Simon Says Peace 5 times from Distress Watercolor card, layered to create dimension and fixed to the panel along with the snowflakes with Distress Collage Medium.
To finish, I trimmed off the snowflake hanging off the edge, matted the panel on to an A2 white card blank and decorated with Lucy's Little Things Silver Pearl Mix.

I'll be back tomorrow to share another Refined Snowflakes Embossing Folder card, in the meantime, have fun with whatever you are making.
