Simon Says - Fun With Stencils

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

and the theme for this week is...
FUN WITH STENCILS
I made a wintry acetate card using Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Snowflakes THS050 Layering Stencil to decorate the Distress Mica Stain background and the acetate front panel and Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Words from the recent Sizzix Christmas release to create the sentiment. A fairly simple card from me this week, because right up until the last minute, I didn't realise that I had skipped a week in the challenge list and the card I had made, photographed and written the blog post for, was, in fact, for next week's challenge. And this little hiccup in the scheme of things had me dashing back to the drawing board to whip up a replacement pdq but every cloud has a silver lining and the good news is that next week's project is already in the bag, so all's well that ends well, apart from the fact that acetate cards are notoriously difficult to photograph.

I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to 5.1/4" square, spritzed with Speckled Egg Distress Spray Stain and Frosted Juniper, Snow Flurries and Hocus Pocus Distress Mica Stains.
I applied Dusty Concord Distress Oxide ink through the Snowflakes Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool.
I inked the sentiment stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous The Poinsettia with Distress Embossing ink, stamped randomly on the background, sprinkled with Ranger White Superfine Embossing Powder and heat set. I fixed the panel to white card trimmed to 5.1/2" square.
I scored and folded heavyweight acetate to create a 5.1/2" square card and fixed the panel inside. I applied Distress Snowfall Grit Paste to the front acetate panel, sprinkled with Distress Rock Candy Glitter and set aside to dry.
I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Words from the Christmas release to create the sentiment. I die-cut the shadow piece from Distress Watercolor card coloured with the same colours as the background, applied a thin layer of Distress Collage Medium over the card with my finger, fixed the sentiment words die-cut from Distress Watercolor card and sprinkled with Distress Rock Candy Glitter. I die-cut the words twice more and layered to create dimension.
Once the Snowfall Grit Paste was dry, I fixed the sentiment in place on the acetate front panel using Distress Collage Medium and added a die-cut shadow on the inside of the panel to hide any adhesive.

I added Glossy Accents to the centres of the snowflakes and sprinkled with Simon Says Stamp Unicorn Confetti.
