Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL
I created a fun whimsical slimline card with a bright and cheerful Easter Theme using Tim Holtz/Sizzix PaperCut Chicks Colorize, Bunny Games and Simple Plaid Thinlits with a sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Spring Shadows.
A project that involves die-cutting lots of small bits and pieces means my small but mighty Sidekick and Tim Holtz Mini Trimmer come out to play, the right tools for the job is a win win situation .
Prior to die-cutting, I applied Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to all the cardstock I intended to use. I die-cut the chicks from 2 colours of yellow Sizzix Cardstock using Tim Holtz/Sizzix PaperCut Chicks Colorize Thinlits. Rather than making one chick at a time, I prefer to do all the die-cutting production line style. I coloured a scrap of the darker yellow card with Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink and used to die cut the feet and beaks.
I inked the edges of the body die-cuts with Walnut Stain Distress Ink using a mini round blending tool and assembled using another important member of the small but mighty team, my trusty squeezers from Tim Holtz/Sizzix Shaping Kit, perfect for removing the Sizzix Adhesive Sheet backing and placing the die-cut layers.
I coloured 3 scraps of Distress Watercolor card with Antique Linen, Saltwater Taffy and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks and used to die-cut the eggs.
I die-cut the flower stems from green Sizzix Cardstock and the flower heads from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bunny Games Thinlits.
The use of Sizzix Adhesive sheets meant that the daisy flowers and centres remained in place and allowed me to colour the centres and place on to each flower without too much effort. I'm all for making life simpler.
Now that all the die-cuts were assembled and ready to go, I set to work on the background. I trimmed a panel of Distress Watercolor card to 3.1/4" x 8.1/4" and coloured using Faded Jeans and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Simple Plaid Thinlits from Distress Watercolor card, trimmed out sections and fixed to the background, again made much easier with the use of adhesive sheets.
Time to assemble
I fixed the panel to a white slimline card blank, doodled and scribbled around the edge with a black fine liner pen.
To finish I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Spring Shadows on to a scrap of the Antique Linen card, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival, trimmed to separate the words and fixed to the card with foam adhesive.
The left overs have been popped into a cello bag and will be stored with the dies to use on another project.

ReplyDeleteKath,
ReplyDeleteIt's me, your card stalker/maker. I love this card. I am working on my version. You are amazing with your itty bitty details.
Thank you so much for sharing your talents. I have a question about the United Kingdom and Easter, if you don't mind. What are favorite things to do for Easter in England? Favorite candies? Do you do baskets too? Myself and Easter, I love the Cadbury eggs.
Again, thank you.
