Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
MIXED MEDIA
I decorated a Ranger 8" x 8" Alcohol Ink HardCore Art Panel with Alcohol Inks, Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Gothic Tapestry and Eccentric, Idea-ology Eccentric and Specimen Remnant Rubs and Distress Crypt Grit Paste with the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Crest Mini Layering Stencil from Set 53.
I began by fixing painters tape around the edges of the panel to leave a white border, sprinkled on Blending Solution and drops of Mushroom, Dijon and Purple Alcohol Inks and moved the inks around with the Alcohol Ink Air Blower. I repeated the above process until I was happy with the background.
The problem was, once I had removed the tape, I wasn't happy with the background so I bit the bullet and sprayed the panel liberally with Isopropyl Alcohol, dabbed with kitchen towel until I achieved the softer look I wanted.
I stamped the script stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Gothic Tapestry, inked with Alcohol Lift Ink, randomly over the panel and dabbed with kitchen towel to remove the excess ink, repeated with a clean section of towel until no more ink came off. I stamped the music stamp from the same set, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
I stamped the Gothic Tapestry main image on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival. Plain Collage Paper has been discontinued and apparently seems to be sold out everywhere but I'm thinking you could also use Dina Wakley Blank Collage Tissue which I've linked below. I haven't actually tried this product but I'm pretty sure it would give you a very similar effect. I painted around the different sections of the image with water and, gently teased the sections apart with my finger and fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium. I added Idea-ology Eccentric and Specimen Remnant Rubs.
I applied Distress Crypt Grit Paste through the leaf section of the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Crest Mini Layering Stencil from Set 53.
I stamped the numbers from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Eccentric, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival and added additional Remnant Rubs to fill in the spaces.
Despite a bit of a bumpy start, I was quite happy with how this turned out. The moral of the story is, if at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again and if necessary, you can always remove the alcohol ink with blending solution or isopropyl alcohol and start over with a "clean slate".
