Simon Says - Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you will join us to celebrate the Monday Challenge's 12th Birthday. Wow, wow, wow, hard to believe it's been almost 6.1/2 years since I joined the Monday Challenge family and I've loved every minute. You can take a little trip down memory lane with me to my first Monday Challenge DT project way back in February 2016, also featuring a Tim Holtz bird HERE.

The first Monday of the month is when we showcase one particular brand/company and the Design Team will all be using fabulous products from Dina Wakley. You don't have to use them to join in the challenge but we would love to see how you use them, if you have them in your stash.

We are also welcoming the lovely and talented Estelle aka atouscrap as our Designer In The Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog yet, pop over and say hello, you will be in for a real treat.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

To celebrate our 12th Birthday, I created a page in my Dina Wakley 6" x 6" White Media Journal using Dina Wakley Typed Media Ledgers Set 1, Just Words Collage Paper and Acrylic Paints, Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vintage Labels, Silhouette Birds Thinlits and Stampers Anonymous Mini Linked Circles Layering Stencil from Set 52.

To add interest and texture to the pages, I fixed torn strips of the Typed Ledger paper and Just Words Collage paper in place with Distress Collage Medium.

I added White Gesso and Dina Wakley Blushing and Lime Acrylic Paints to my glass Media Mat, spritzed with water and applied to the pages using a baby wipe. I removed paint from random areas to make the text more visible.

I applied Distress Texture Paste through the Mini Linked Circles Layering Stencil from Set 52.

I applied Black Soot Distress Archival ink to the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Vintage Labels circle using the small Distress Brayer.

I placed the inked circle on a scrap of the Typed Ledger paper, coloured with Blushing Acrylic Paint and die-cut.

I die-cut the circle again 3 times from Idea-ology Black KraftStock, layered to create dimension and fixed the label to the page with Distress Collage Medium. I trimmed the numbers 1 and 2 from the Just Words Collage Paper and added to the label using Distress Collage Medium.

I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Silhouette Birds from Idea-ology Black KraftStock and Distress Watercolor card covered with the Just Words Collage Paper. I fixed Black Twine Thread and the die-cut birds to the pages using Distress Collage Medium.

I cut out the individual alphabet letters from the Just Words Collage Paper and fixed to the pages with Distress Collage Medium.

To finish I added extra torn strips of the Just Words Collage Paper and Idea-ology Design Tape Trims.
