Simon Says - Make Your Own Background

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

The first challenge of the month means that the Design Team are showcasing products from a certain company/designer and this month it's the turn of  PaperArtsy and if you have some of their products in your craft stash, we would love to see how you use them.
We are also welcoming  the lovely and super talented Kerstin aka Scrapbook Dreams into the Designer Spotlight. If you haven't visited her blog you are in for a real treat!
The theme for this week is...
MAKE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND
I created the backgrounds for my Snarky Sticker cards using PaperArtsy Infusions and Fresco Finish Chalk Paints with Tim Holtz Layering Stencils. With such colourful and busy backgrounds, I kept the decoration simple, adding white Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits die-cuts and Simon Says Stamp Script Hello die-cut sentiments.

I started by trimming Distress Mixed Media Heavystock to create two 4" x 6" panels and applied a coat of PaperArtsy Snowflake Fresco Finish Chalk Paint, which is an opague paint and will do the same job as Gesso. I sprinkled PaperArtsy The Sage Infusions randomly on the panels, spritzed with water and dried with a heat tool. I applied Ranger Opague Crackle Texture Paste through the Tim Holtz Flourish Layering Stencil and once it had dried, sprinkled with PaperArtsy Lemoncello Infusions, spritzed with water letting the colour seep into the crackle.
I used PaperArtsy Prawn, Dusty Teal, Haystack and Snowflake Fresco Finish Chalk Paints with Mini Layering Stencils from Sets 3, 5 and 8 to add interest to the background.
I die-cut Tim Holtz/Sizzix Wildflower Stems 1 Thinlits from white card, fixed to the panels with Distress Collage Medium Matte, painted the centres with PaperArtsy Prawn Fresco Finish Paint and added splatters of Black Soot Distress Paint on the background and flower heads.
I die-cut Simon Says Stamp Script Hello from black and white card
and finished off by adding Tim Holtz Idea-ology Big Talk/Small Talk Snarky Stickers
and added the panels to 5" x  7" black card blanks

  3. Love the wild swirly drama of those backgrounds - and you were so right to keep it simple with the bold daisies in the foreground.
