I began by removing the front cover from a "cheap as chips" A5 notebook from my local bargain basement store.
I trimmed Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Memoranda Paper Stash tofit the cover, fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium Matte and repunched the holes using my Cinch machine but you could also use a Cropadile to re-punch the holes individually.
I used the beautiful Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bouquet Thinlits from Chapter 1 to die-cut a panel from Distress Watercolor card. This die doesn't cut the edges so you can make the border as thin or as wide as you like. I tore the panel diagonally, fixed to the cover using Distress Collage Medium Matte and applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium over the entire cover.
I scribbled Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge Distress Crayons over the flower centres, smoothed the colour out with my finger and repeated with Iced Spruce and Vintage Photo around the edges.
I die-cut frames from Distress Watercolor card and scraps of Memoranda papers using the Thinlits dies that are included with Sizzix Curio Box BigZ XL die
I added Idea-ology Numbers Remnant Rubz to one of the frames and the background and sanded to make them slightly less bold
At this point, it is always tempting to add lots of dimensional decoration but a notebook that will be used every day has to be practical and functional so I die-cut the Scribbly Butterflies from Distress Watercolor card and coloured lightly with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink using a Distress Blender Brush.
I fixed Tim Holtz Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to the back of a scrap of Idea-ology BlackOut Kraft Stock and die-cut the words for the second frame using Alphanumeric Tiny Text Thinlits.
I fixed the butterflies to Idea-ology BlackOut Kraftstock, trimmed around the edges to leave a small border and fixed in place with Distress Collage Medium.
I fixed Memoranda papers to the back cover and insides of the front and back covers and finished by applying Distress Collage Medium Matte over both sides of the covers to protect them from daily wear and tear.
and I'm ready for 2020
Toodle-oo for now

ReplyDeleteKath, you've done it again. Absolutely love the notebook. I'm always jotting down stuff in notebooks so this is a wonderful idea to make a boring notebook beautiful. I'm also feeling a touch guilty that my craft room looks like it's been attacked by vandals so you're inspiring me to be better organised for 2020.
