Hi my friends, I'm sharing my DT project for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you will join us this week to because
and the theme this week is
HOME DECOR
Shades at the ready because I have gone bright and colourful this week to create a canvas for a child's room using the adorable Theodore, the latest addition to the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Colorize Collection.HOME DECOR
I began by applying Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheet to lightweight white cardstock, removed the backing and fixed to Sizzix Felt from my stash, but any good quality wool felt will do.
Thinlits WILL cut felt but because of the fibrous nature of this material, you may need to snip the odd intricate section to release the die-cut and Tim Holtz Haberdashery Scissors with their sharp points are perfect for the job. I wanted Theodore to look like a teddy bear so I decided to cut all the body pieces from the same colour of felt and used Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink with a mini round blending tool to create shadows on the edges of each die-cut before fixing in place.
I die-cut the piece behind the eyes from a darker coloured felt and the eyes and nose from black and white card.
I trimmed Dina Wakley Media Board in half to create a 6" x 9" canvas.
I discovered at this point, that the battery on my camera had died, so this "sailing a bit close to the wind/time-wise" crafter had to soldier on and what follows is a bit of a thrown together step-by-step tutorial. I used Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Stripes Shifter Layering Stencil with Salty Ocean and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks to create a plaid effect on the background and the Stars Layering Stencil with Festive Berries Distress Oxide Ink.
I coloured Distress Watercolor card with the same 3 inks and die-cut the balloons and bow tie using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Crazy Things Thinlits, the books using the parcel tops from Santa's Helper Thinlits and fixed in place with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive. I added Bakers Twine as the strings for the balloons and buttons from my stash.
I fixed Tim Holtz/Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to Distress Watercolor card and die-cut the words using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Classic Upper and Lower and Tiny Type Lower Thinlits and added Idea-ology Chit Chat Stickers.
You can find the products I used in the links below.
