Hi my friends, I'm sharing my DT project for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you will join us this week to because
As it's the first Monday of the month, the Design Team are showcasing one particular brand or company and this week, we are all using fabulous products from Darkroom Door.
We are also welcoming the lovely and very talented Claudia aka Von Peppe 11 into the Designer Spotlight and if you haven't visited her blog before, then you are in for a real treat.
and the theme this week is
SOMETHING NEW
I decided to mix NEW products from Darkroom Door and Tim Holtz with an old favourite sentiment die from Simon Says to make cards suitable for any occasion, they are always handy to have if you need a card in a hurry.
I coloured A2 panels of Distress Watercolor card with Distress Oxide Sprays
L to R...Tumbled Glass/Evergreen Bough,
Shaded Lilac/Dusty Concord and Weathered Wood/Broken China
I applied the darker colour of Distress Oxide ink from each combination through the Darkroom Door Journey Medium Stencil using a mini round blending tool to create a tone on tone effect.
I die-cut 7 hexagons from each panel using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stacked Hexagon Thinlits. This would be a great way to use up backgrounds you have already created or to make a dent in your stash of patterned papers.
and fixed to 4" x 5.1/4" panels of Distress Watercolor card. I added Black Soot Distress Re-inker to Ranger Opague Texture Paste and applied through the Darkroom Door Wildflowers Small Stencil.
I added splatters of the co-ordinating ink and white gouache
I die-cut Simon Says Stamp Love Shadow from Distress Watercolor and Black card, layered and fixed to the panels using Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive to create dimension.
At this stage, I felt it needed a little something extra, so I trimmed out the butterflies from the Darkroom Door Take Flight stamp, inked with Black Soot Distress Archival ink and stamped in the top right hand corner. And if you need to stamp the whole image in the future, it is easy to line everything up again.
To complete the sentiment, I inked the small sentiment from Simon Says Beautiful Flowers with Black Soot Distress Archival, stamped on to Distress Watercolor card and die cut using Simon Says Nested Banners die.
I added black and clear self adhesive gems from my stash and matted the panels on to Idea-ology BlackOut card and fixed to A2 white card blanks.
