Hi my friends, if you have just tuned in to the YouTube Live launching the release of the new Tim Holtz Christmas products from Ranger, I bet you are just as excited as I am and I'm sharing two "lightbulb moment" cards made using the gorgeous shimmery Distress Mica Stains - Tree Lot, Holly Branch and Peppermint Stick. And that lightbulb moment happened while I was making swatches with my happy mail parcel, big thanks to Tim, Mario, Paula and Ranger for making my Christmas heart happy. I was spraying through the Poinsettia Layering Stencil and thought, no way am I going to waste all that delicious colour sitting on top of the stencil.
so I grabbed Distress Watercolor panels, spritzed the stencil lightly with water, pressed on to the panels to create monoprint backgrounds and added a splattering of the luscious Peppermint Stick Distress Mica Stain.
I spritzed an A2 panel of Distress Watercolor card with Peppermint Stick Distress Mica Stain and die-cut the sentiment using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Merry and Bright Thinlits. I die-cut the sentiment again 3 times from Simon Says Schoolhouse Red cardstock, fixed to the Tree Lot Distress Mica Stain panel using Distress Collage Medium, added an Idea-ology Christmas Remnant Rub and voila, one very quick and easy to make card.
I did the same with the Holly Branch Distress Mica Stain panel, using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Circle Words Thinlits die-cut from the Peppermint Stick panel and Idea-ology Gold Metallic KraftStock. I added gold metallic and red thread bows and an Idea-ology Christmas Remnant Rub. If you don't have Remnant Rubs you could use sentiments from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Tiny Text Christmas (linked below) inked with Black Soot Distress Archival.
To finish I matted the panels on to card blanks scored and folded from Simon Says Schoolhouse Red cardstock.
I can't believe how easy these cards were to make, they are simple in design but oh boy, they pack a punch with the shimmer of the Distress Christmas Mica Stains as you turn them in the light and if you have lots of Christmas cards to make, set up your own little production line. Just grab some pre-cut card panels, your Distress Mica Stains, your Splatbox, a stencil and make loads of backgrounds, add your die-cuts and remnant rubs or a bit of stamping and you will have a pile of finished cards cards before you know. Your hands may have turned a funny colour but nothing that a rub-a-dub scrub in hot soapy water with the help of a Ranger Craft Scrubbie won't put right.
