Simon Says - Winter Blues

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because

The first challenge of the month is when the Design Team feature one particular company/brand and this week we are all using fabulous products from Tim Holtz.  You don't have to use these products to join in the challenge but if you have them in your stash, we would love to see what you make.

The theme for this week is...

WINTER BLUES

I created a trio of cards using the absolutely adorable Walter the penguin, the Cyber Monday surprise from Tim Holtz and Simon Says Stamp along with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Words and Scribbly Snowflakes Thinlits. Winter has definitely arrived in my neck of the woods with "Jack Frost nipping at my nose" temperatures and just like Walter, it's time to look out a cosy hat and scarf.

I began by die-cutting Walter from Distress Black HeavyStock, Distress Watercolor card and Sizzix Surfacez Cardstock and assembled.

I coloured 4 - A2 panels of Distress Watercolor card with Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire and once dry, spritzed lightly with Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stain. I attached Sizzix Adhesive Sheets to 2 of the coloured panels and to scraps of Distress Watercolor card.

I die-cut the shadow section of Tim Holtz/Sizzix Festive Words Thinlits from one of the coloured panels, trimmed to 4" x 5.1/4", fixed to an A2 white card blank and fixed the shadow back into the space, popped up on Simon Says foam squares. I die-cut the Festive Words 4 times from Distress Watercolor card with the adhesive backing, stacked to create dimension and fixed to the shadow section. I applied a coat of Distress Collage Medium over the letters and sprinkled with Distress Rock Candy Glitter. I die-cut the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Scribbly Snowflakes from the adhesive backed Distress Watercolor card, trimmed to fix around the edges and pressed into place. I add the Walter die-cuts with the bow ties die-cut from the coloured background with adhesive backing.

I die-cut the Festive Words shadow from the top of the coloured panel trimmed to 4" x 5.1/4" and fixed to Black Distress HeavyStock. I die-cut the Festive Words and Scribbly Snowflakes from the adhesive backed Distress Watercolor card, pressed into place and trimmed off the excess snowflakes. I die-cut Simon Says Stitched Slopes from Distress Watercolor card and, fixed to the panel with Distress Collage Medium and added extra Scribbly Snowflakes. I fixed Walter and his 2 friends in place popped up on foam squares, added the scarves and hats die-cut from the adhesive backed coloured Distress Watercolor card and the glasses die-cut from Distress Black HeavyStock and fixed the panel to an A2 white card blank.

I spritzed a 4" x 5.1/4" panel of Distress Watercolor card with Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stain. I die-cut Scribbly Snowflakes from the adhesive backed coloured Distress Watercolor card and pressed the snowflakes on to the background. I fixed a scrap of the coloured Distress Watercolor card to Sizzix Black Foam Adhesive Sheet, die-cut using the Festive Words and pressed into place on the panel.

I spritzed a 4" x 5.1/4" panel of Distress Watercolor card with Frozen Fog Distress Mica Stain. I die-cut Scribbly Snowflakes from the adhesive backed coloured Distress Watercolor card and pressed the snowflakes on to the background. I fixed a scrap of the coloured Distress Watercolor card to Sizzix Black Foam Adhesive Sheet, die-cut using the Festive Words and pressed into place on the panel. I added the Walter die-cuts popped up on foam squares, added the hat, scarves and bow-tie die-cut from the adhesive backed coloured Distress Watercolor card and fixed the panel to an A2 white card panel.

To finish off all 3 cards, I applied Distress Collage Medium to the fur and pom poms on the hats, sprinkled with Distress Rock Candy Glitter and added Pretty Pink Posh Starry Sky Ombre Glitter Drops.
