A little update

Just a quick update to let you know how my two Fiskars buddies are doing....
Lorraine is home from hospital and is doing fine....spoke to her on the phone today...behaving herself and doing everything she is told....well that must be a first...joking aside....I am over the moon that she will soon be back to her old self and back crafting again.
Ann had her operation yesterday and everything went well...she just has to wait now for the results of the biopsy before they decide what further treatment she will need.
I have had an anxious week thinking about my bestest crafty mates and can't wait for them both to return to full health and able to get on with their lives and then we can arrange our girly weekend away......yippeee

Some Cards to Share

At long last some cards I can share with you......I have been so cheesed off with the Christmas Card orders....yesterday I made 18 of the same card...that is so boring...feels a bit like a production line....so today I decided to have a break and catch up with some of the normal orders for November. But it's not all good news......I have 5 male cards to do and they ain't my favourites. My grandson Brodie will be 4 at the beginning of November...so 2 cards for him from relatives.....no Grandma's one will have to wait and no doubt be done last minute....and he is a big fan of anything construction....diggers...bulldozers and the like.

The Foam Thickers don't come in red so I just coloured them with a permanent marker and inked the edges...a little bit of distressing and doodling to finish off. Well the mojo is still working so off to get the other two male cards done and then on to "New Home"...Ruby Wedding" "Baby's 1st Birthday" "Happy Anniversary" and "Good Luck" ....life is never boring at Chez Kath. This Guy is Driving Me Nuts

Why is it when I have finished work for the night...have a little bit of me time and am sitting at the old 'puter...minding my own business..with a cup of coffee...happy as larry....trying to catch up with all my bloggy friends....does Mr Blogger decide he is having a "GO SLOW" night......is it just me that he is trying to irritate or has he got it in for everybody. No matter what I try to do...leave a comment...open a blog...upload a piccie.....he is refusing to co-operate.
OK matey....see if I care...am off to have an early night....snuggling up with the latest copy of "Simply Cards & Papercraft" which arrived this morning. Did you see my fabby boss Anice from Funky Hand featured in the little booklet of Designer Cards that came with the mag...TOOOT...TOOOT..ANICE.

Busy..busy...day

Hi bloggy friends....it's been a busy busy day but I have got lots of stuff done....and I even managed to meet up with a friend from my ceramic days for lunch and it was yummy and great to catch up on all the news. Tomorrow and Friday I need to get some last minute card orders sorted out and then over the weekend I really need to make a start on my prep stuff for the SECC....so my DT samples for this week and next had to be done this afternoon. I can't share them with you yet.....patience is a virtue but because I have been neglecting you of late I will share some sneeky peeks.....a little bit of a naughty tease I know but otherwise it would be wittering on with no pics.

Well that's it for today I'm afraid...hopefully I will have some stuff to share with you tomorrow....in the meantime enjoy your crafting and I will be trying to catch up with you all tonight to see what you have been doing......Love Kath xxxxx

Breast Cancer Awareness

I got an e-mail tonight highlighting the fact that the Breast Cancer Website is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to women in need...low income...inner city and minority women in the USA whose awareness of breast cancer and the opportunity for help is often limited. We are fortunate in this country that mammograms are provided for free and perhaps that is something we take for granted....so please go to the site ..it only takes a minute of your time...and click on the pink button (Click Here to Give...It's Free). Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate a mammogram in exchange for advertising. Please pass this along to your friends ...in fact, if you can spare a minute each day...there is no limit on how many times you click.
My thoughts tonight are with my lovely Fiskars Buddy Ann who is scheduled for Breast Cancer surgery tomorrow....sending lots of love and hugs sweet lady. No update on Lorraine today...hopefully her Mum will call me tomorrow and I will have news for you.

This Old Face

As you will probably have guessed by now I am a bit of an old bird who is approaching the big 60 in a couple of weeks.....and then I will officially be a Senior Citizen..well suppose it's better than being called an old-age pensioner....well I ain't ready for a zimmer and incontinence knickers yet...my mind is still young at heart although the old body does need a good talking too in the mornings to play catch up with the rest of me.  I've been looking at this fizzog in the mirror every morning for nearly six decades and to me it doesn't look any different but apparently that ain't true.
Had to pop into town this morning for a few bits and pieces and as hubby needed the car today thought I would take the bus.....lots to do today so set off early.....well I ain't been on a bus for yonks so no idea of times or fares.  Young studenty type standing at the stop and we engaged in conversation....a bus is due any minute he informed me but could he tell me the fare to Aberdeen.   I had a bit of a pet hate when I used to travel on the bus...the folk who waited until they got on the bus and then searched for their purses and then for change holding everybody up in the process...I was a change in my pocket gal ready to pay.   "Well" he replied...it's £2.40 single but you will probably get a discount.....OUCH!!!!  "No...I don't get my bus pass for a few weeks yet" I replied.   When you come to get a job matey....you won't be able to put TACT on your CV.   No worries the bus arrived and he redeemed himself....stood back to let me on first....hey chivalry ain't dead and you've been brought up proper me thinks.
Got on the bus and asked for a return.....shock horror, nearly fainted......£4.50.....yikes .."Goodness me...just shows how long it is since I was on a bus"  I joked......"Well if you ain't happy, you had better get off and walk" the driver snapped back at me.    Well let me tell you this old bird does not do RUDE and I let him know in no uncertain terms that I didn't like his attitude in my politest voice....took my ticket and turned to a little ripple of applause from the rest of the folk on the bus......but I had just broken my own  rule.....while I was having my little rant.....I was holding up everybody else on the bus on the way to work.
The moral of the story must be......the anti wrinkle cream ain't working but who cares.....life is too short to worry about young students who obviously need to visit an optician and grumpy jobs worth bus drivers....I am too busy to worry about my age and am quite happy in this old wrinkly skin.
Off to get stuck into more card orders.......and maybe a challenge or two.

Well I missed last week's challenge and the way things are going I thought I might miss this one too....so as soon as Brodie and Oliver left today.....I managed to do a quickie.....and believe me...it was a quickie and don't know if I am entirely happy with it.....but hubby is now making noises about his evening meal...so no time to start all over again...how inconsiderate men are sometimes...doesn't he know that crafting comes much higher up the list of priorities than food....unless of course we are talking chocolate.

A Quick Update

Just to let you all know that Lorraine is out of surgery and back in the ward.....no doubt....sleeping like a babe and snoring like a train.   Her Mum said she would call me tomorrow with more information.....so I will update you all again tomorrow.   Love Kath xxxxxxx

It's Showtime

For all you "seriously addicted to adding to your stash" crafters out there who live north of the border....it's nearly showtime again......are you going to the HOBBYCRAFT SHOW at the SECC on 23rd - 26th October....if the answer is YES.......well......so am I.
I will be demonstrating on the FISKARS Stand (C10) I think it is.....and will be mightly miffed if you don't pay me a visit and say hello. Would love to meet you all and it would be great to put faces to names, so to speak.....so don't be shy....come and give me a big bloggy hug.
Nothing to share with you today.....Brodie and Oliver are coming to stay...so no card making....me thinks you may have quite a few days of me just wittering on about nothing over the next few weeks... tomorrow I will have to get stuck into my DT work.....need to double up again as I will be missing again from Wednesday next week for the show......prep work to get done for that as well......and birthday card orders to get finished for the end of the month........and to think this started off as a little hobby.
It's probably just as well I have the hooligans to occupy my time today as my bestest Fiskars mate Lorraine......Crafty Coo to her bloggy buddies is having her surgery today and old Mither Hen here will be on tenterhooks until I hear that she is out of surgery and in recovery.....sending lots of love and big fluffy hugs for a speed recovery. Will keep you posted.

Back in Business

Wow I slept like a top last night.....up this morning and back into the swing of Christmas card orders..... got lots of cards made in the evenings while on holiday....just the personalisation and inserts to do.....so that's the first order complete......just another how many to go.....don't know..not counting.

And guess what I bought as my little holiday treat to me......a Mini Sewing Machine.....I do have a proper sewing machine but it's too heavy to lug up and down the stairs so hopefully this little baby will do the trick for stitching on cards ..the only problem ....at the moment I just don't have time to play with it.

All the stuff I bought recently...Cosmo Cricket TSV......Bind-It-All and my latest kit from My Creative Scrapbook are going to have to be put out of sight until after the Christmas rush. From now until the end of November I will be meeting myself coming back...so much to do and not enough time....hopefully after the Christmas rush there will be lots of me time to play. Well back to it...but hopefully I will manage to squeeze in some challenges this week......catch up with you all later......Love Kath xxxxxxxx
