Chris has a pet hate which I also share and that is WORD VERIFICATION...the proverbial pain in the ass for all us bloggers who leave comments...Ok if you are just visiting a few blogs and leaving a few comments it probably doesn't bother you...but I tell you it bugs me no end with the amount of comments I leave in a week. If you disable WV and enable COMMENT MODERATION....then you can check each comment before it is posted and I can honestly say that I have never had any spam........Give it a try and if it doesn't work for you then you can always go back to VW.....PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE....think about it and if you leave me a comment to say that you are considering it ...believe me YOU WILL MAKE MY DAY....and on the 15th September I will draw a name out of the hat and someone will receive a goodie bag of Christmas scrummylicious stuff from me..... Love your blog and read every post. Not as good at commenting as you are though! I switched from verification to moderation and we'll see. I had nothing for a while and got a whole lot of garbage so I turned the verification on. Moderation looks to be a good alternative. Thanks! ~chris
I disable mine a while ago after you suggested it and haven't had any problems, shame that the minority sploil it for the majority every time, I have a good security system installed so I hope I will be OK.

I didn't realise there was an alternative so I am giving it a try. I hate word verification but I was tired of the sicko links that I was getting before. This might well be a great compromise - thanks!

I HATE word verification too!!! I have 3 blogs and none of them have word verification.
I visited a blog yesterday and had to punch in the letters the 4th time before I got it right!! I should have just LEFT as it was getting frustrating (and I'm on dialup, so you can imagine the PAIN) Sometimes being on dialup, the word verification block doesn't even show up and I have to refresh, making sure to copy my post so I don't have to re-type!!! Grrr...I'm getting mad justr thinking about the silliness word verification is!!!

Hi Kath - I know what you mean - The old eye sights not that fanatsic and I am far to vain to wear the specs! LOL
It takes ages for me to get all those little wonky letters and numbers correct. By the time I have I've forgotten what comment I was going to post anyway!!! Must be the age creeping on!!

I don't have word verification on my blog anymore - mainly because when I leave comments on blogs, it always took too long and was quite annoying when it didn't work!! Hence the reason I sympathise with others.. no word verification on mine no more!!
