A Close Encounter

I have always loved animals having been brought up in the country with dogs, cats and horses and I will admit I prefer them with 4 legs, big enough to get your arms around and snuggle in that gorgeous warm animal scent.   Don't particularly like insects.....it's not a phobia...but I can live without them in my life until I fell in love with a spider.  Picture the scene, getting ready for bed....just taken a mouthful of mouthwash and doing my chipmunk impression when he abseils into view on a thread so fine it's microscopic......the dinkiest little spider...so cute....now the word cute refers to his size....he could be the ugliest spider on the planet with a face like the back of a bus....but he's so dinky I can't even see a face and I think he got a bigger shock than I did as he hurriedly tried to scamper back up his thread.    Following his progress.....shock horror and oh the shame " I live in a house with a cobweb".   My first reaction is to swipe that intruder into next week but on closer inspection I find the most beautiful work of art...gossamer threads all woven together in a lace like pattern....probably took him an age to create......well little fella ..you've melted my heart.... it's nice to have another crafter in the house and because your life span is measured in months or maybe even weeks ...I don't know....I've decided you can stay at Chez Kath .....as long as you know your place.....obey the house rules .......and don't bring all your mates round for a party.   Maybe I should leave him a comment "Gorgeous creation.....love the attention to detail.......great work" .......well it's late...it's been a busy old day and it's time for bed.........oops nearly forgot I need to apply my anti-wrinkle cream......remember......my road tester job......well you can hardly call it a job...getting paid for slapping on some cream twice a day.... I am now 2 days in but don't get excited...there is no visible improvement as yet.......wrinkles are still in tact and to be honest I think it may take more than a little cream to get rid of these babies.....but you know what... life is too short to worry about wrinkles and cobwebs in the en-suite.....there are more pressing worries...how will I ever drop off to sleep with Buddy snoring his head off at the bottom of the bed.
If a miracle should occur and I wake up with perfectly smooth skin....I promise you will be the first to know.
Love Kath xxxxx

  1. I am glad that your heart has been melted by a tiny little spider. Let us hope he obeys the house rules. And please don't forget your cyber friends should that cream cause a miracle. Warm regards.

  9. A woman after my own heart!! I could hug you for this Kath!!! I don't have a problem at all with spiders - I don't like seeing poor creatures struggling in their webs though, and I have to confess to having deprived many a spider of a decent feed by helping the poor critters escape ~ and then I feel guilty the poor thing might starve to death..... I have the most amazing web outside my window and it's so intricate I don't want to get rid of it - mind you, it's occupier looks like a mini tarantula!!
