Morning folks...did I have a real fun day yesterday in the cubbyhole with my lovely crafty buddies Anne...Debbi and Lyn....they are such sweethearts but all good things must come to an end and now it's back to the mad mad world of trying to meet deadlines and the list of crafty things to do just seems to get longer and longer....but time for just one more little bit of fun before it's nose to the grindstone.....yes it's Wednesday once again and time to play along at WOYWW....a chance for all us nosey parkers to have a snoop around all those crafty desks and I have to say that I failed miserably last week not managing to visit many at all....must try and do better this week.
So what's on my workdesk today.....still my Simply Create DT kit and I'm not making much progress with it at all....my altered wall hanger is still unfinished
and I can't wait to play with these little cuties...not quite big enough for the NYC trip but perfect for storing the cubbyhole's little bits and pieces once they get the Timmie Holtz treatment....
but that will not be anytime soon because this has just arrived at the cubbyhole...all the new Fiskars products for me to play with and make samples ready for the SECC....and crikey I leave a week today so I need to get those crafty fingers working overtime.....
but first I have to get them all out of the packaging...nightmare springs to mind I remember the last time only too well. My lovely buddy Anne ....the sewing queen tells me that I shouldn't be using my paper scissors when working with fabric.....so this new addition to the Fiskars Scissors Family may well be my new sewing scissors.....blimey they are huge compared to my other favourites....but perfect for cutting material.
Off to put the kettle on for a cuppa and chill out before my battle with the packaging and then it's time to have a play with the brand new Everywhere Punches which Lorraine and I will be launching at the SECC....so the demo needs to be top notch and up to speed...no pressure then. Catch up with you all later.
Hugs Kath xxx

Kath, what a lovely hanging and what gorgeous goodies to start using. Snow - yikes - well I did have to defrost my car this morning. I'm a newbie to the WOYWW so please be gentle with me!! Best wishes, Kym (No 42)
ReplyDeleteAnne is right - paper blunts scissors rapidly - fabric scissors need to be razor sharp as the making is all in the cutting...
ReplyDeleteof course if you sharpen your scissor regularly it matters not one jot!!!
except fabric scissors are shaped to slide along your base surface as it slices through the fabric from top down as you close the blades... hmmm and it makes a lovely sound as it cuts...guess who's making fabric christmas things????

Love the wall hanging and hope you have a good week cutting out lots of lovely things! - thanks for sharing (no. 46)
ReplyDeleteWall hanging looks good here but I've seen the finished one and it's even more fabulous. Been a bit snowy here too especially on my windscreen this morning.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do something about altering my book now for Simply Create and I've got some more ideas for other bits and pieces. Can't wait to see what you do with these suitcases now!
Kat xx
Hi Kath and Buddy I hope the snow wasn't too bad. It feels cold enough here. Love the look of your wall hanger. Friskers scissors are so good. I keep my fabric ones well hidden away. Nothing worse than blunt scissors. Look forward to seeing your suitcases decorated. Hugs to you both x ChrisB
ReplyDeleteI think the wall hanger is perfect as it is...you could consider it finished and re-visit if you get another 'ping' moment! Those scissors are a re-modeling of a pair I've had for yonks - they really make great fabric scissors - such a long blade!
ReplyDeleteThe wall-hanging is lovely..I do like those colours, soft and earthy.
ReplyDeleteIt does not need much else doing to it.
Have a great week

Hi Kath and Buddy! Is it really better late than never? I'm not always sure on that - Being #1 this week we thought we'd really try to comment on every link and you can see how far we've gotten ;) Looks like winter ahead, but you have some goodies to play with! I saw Tim Holtz at CHA in LA and as he was cutting w/his scissors he talked about how he designed them as a left hander - no metal in the handle at all, just rubber and the ladies were like "SAY WHAT?" we never noticed. He just gave that grin!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and see ya next week.
