I know I'm a bit of a perfectionist/second best just won't do...as my old dad used to say..."if a job's worth doing...it's worth doing well" which brings me on to the dilemma of the colour on the walls...thank you for all your advice folks...I did take it on board and then proceeded to completely ignore it...oops...sorry but the cream colour was just too yellow for my liking and if I don't like it now...I suspect that a few month's down the line it will be doing my head in and that's not a job I want to add to the list in the run up to Christmas...so I made another trip to B&Q...fast becoming a "get there with my eyes closed" automatic pilot destination and headed straight for the Dulux counter for a great big can of...
my favourite emulsion...a little bit more expensive but worth every penny...it's as tough as old boots and with a Furry Companion who loves to harl the walls with muddy splatters...it's got to be washable...not wipeable come off on the cloth washable but time and time again scrubbable washable and I love the colour...
I'm in still at the two tone room stage but I can definitely see the wood for the trees now so it's ever onward in this mad DIY quest...the grandkiddies are coming tomorrow for a sleep over so if that's not an incentive to get cracking and get it finished I don't know what is. 2 paint free days having fun and letting loose my inner child sounds good to me.
See you all tomorrow
Hugs Kath xxx
You are superwoman for sure! I hope you get it all done in time.
ReplyDeleteWe once painted our bedroom a gentle yellow, it actually kept me awake all night and we had to repaint it back to magnolia!

ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the colour-changing. It would have driven me nuts to look at the walls every day and not like them. I love the new colour!
ReplyDeleteI think we were all trying to save you more painting really but must say I much prefer the new colour. Been there done that with walls I didn't like and poor hubby had to repaint, I don't paint very well and he does so he is happy to do it. Enjoy some fun time x
ReplyDeleteWell I have to admit the new colour is very, very nice and not so yellowy and more in keeping with your furniture - love that glossy door too. Just a shame you had to go through all that hard work to get there......have a lovely time with the Grandkids. Hugs, Anne x

ReplyDeleteKath, thanks for making me smile every time I read your blog. you are such an inspiration, hope everyone appreciates all the hard work your putting in to create your wonderful home.Loving the latest colour, hoping you get finished soon and have a well deserved break.
ReplyDeleteI too prefer the new colour - Gentle Fawn sounds so romantic too! Have a great time with the kiddies. You'll be more worn out than after repainting the door and walls LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou're giving me nightmares about redecorating now! I bet that pot of Crown wasna cheap either. I do like the new colour though and hopefully when it's all finished you'll be able to sit back and say 'I did that!'. I've been taking advantage of the dry spell to paint the 'sitooterie'. One coat of the same stuff it was painted with last year - but now I have to go and clean the brush! Enjoy your visitors.

ReplyDeleteHi Kath, well done you, it's a good job you changed the colour it would have annoyed you every time you walked into the room. It all looks so shiny and new, almost like moving into a new house. Enjoy the couple of days with the kids, no doubt you'll be tired after that too... Trish
