Which begs the question...will I ever manage to prise the paintbrush from my hand and make it back to the cubbyhole to my proper day job...much more fun and not nearly as messy. I do hope so because the pile of craft worky stuff has grown to Everest proportions whilst I've been playing Grand Designs and if all goes to plan...I'm intending locking myself away for a week of frantic catch up crafting and maybe then I can have some "me having fun" playtime with the happy mail parcels that arrived whilst I've been otherwise engaged...including this delicious bundle of goodies that Penny Black and my lovely buddy Jill Avery Foster sent me to play with...
Thanks folks for your kind generosity...I'm itching to get out the ink pads and have some Penny Black fun...if that's not an incentive to crack on and nail the DIY deadline...I don't know what is.
The Friday girls came up trumps on our "bits and pieces" shopping trip yesterday and I'll be sharing once the room has been dressed...that's just Interior Design speak for hanging the curtains (another of my least favourite pastimes) and plumping the cushions.

I'm sure Buddy's detour will work out - he's a bright boy! As for the pine bookcase - I did this to a sideboard and corner cupboard a while back... rubbed it down to get rid of all the old varnish, gave it a coat of some slightly diluted white emulsion, ( it still shows the lovely wood grain and takes on a rosy glow), and seal it all with bees wax polish. I love mine even after 6 years. If you want a more distressed look you can rub it back in places to show the more of the wood. Good luck with the remaining doors and so pleased that Crown came up trumps. X
ReplyDeleteHi Kath, I've just ordered some Annie Sloan paint & wax for a pine wardrobe & chest of drawers in my spare bedroom... they call it ladies paint!!!! as you need no prep no rubbing down etc... I watched the videos on you-tube which made my mind up to have a go with it...I bought the original paint but some of the colours are amazing... Loving your new bumper bundle of PB stamps, I have seen the elegant lady one used and it is beautiful, love the word blocks too. I think you are going to have a wonderful time with your new goodies. ReplyDeleteAh well done Kath - I always find the finish much harder than the start, so am full oif admiration..and you're right - there is a rather yummy incentive involved. Am sure hoping that Buddy doesn't think the chair is just a challenge!!

ReplyDeleteHope the last of the painting went well Kath. Not one of my favourite jobs, I think I'm too hashy for painting!! Hope you managed to keep Buddy from getting painty, I think I'd have to banish my two furry boys completely. Especially since they're casting just now.
