The Festive Season...

Hi folks, one week of November gone already, the Christmas ads are on the TV and the shops are filled to the brim with lots of Christmas goodies, so it's time for the cubbyhole crew to start the Christmas Crafting production line.
I was so inspired by the lovely and very talented Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint who has been making boxes of cards for a charity close to her heart. I decided to follow Autumn's lead and make some for one of my local charities to sell at their Christmas Fair. You can find Autumn's great tutorial and a free downloadable template to make the boxes HERE.

I decided to make 6 cards per box and started off by colouring 6 panels of Distress Watercolor card with Antique Linen and Old Paper Distress Oxides using the familiar smooshing, drying, and picking up the remaining droplets technique.
I inked up the Advert stamp from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Music & Advert with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and spritzed the stamp with water before stamping. I patted the panel with kitchen towel, spritzed with water again
and dried with a heat tool
I trimmed and tore panels of vellum to the same size and added Idea-ology Holly Collage Paper using Distress Collage Medium Matte
I then stitched each panel of vellum to the Distress Watercolor panels. If you don't have a sewing machine, you could attach the vellum with strips of 1/8" Wonder Tape under where the Gold Embossing will be.
I stamped the sentiments from Christmastime and Festive Overlays with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold embossing powder.
I repeated with the star/snow image from Great Outdoors
I stamped the Santa image from Yuletide on to Distress Watercolor card, coloured with Distress Markers, a Signo Gold and Sakura Black Glaze pens and fussy cut.
I ran the Versamark ink pad around the edges of each panel, tapped into the Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold embossing powder which is the most gorgeous Vintage Gold and heat set. I added the Santas to the panel with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Mini Foam Adhesive.
I matted the panels on to Idea-ology Christmas Stash Paper and Deco Sheets left over from last year and added to white card blanks.
I created a box from Autumn's downloadable template
decorated the lid of the box to match the cards and added strips of Idea-ology Christmas Deco Sheets to the sides of  the box and box lid.

I added a vellum strip which can be removed to open the box decorated with gold embossing and a Santa image.

One box done, 5 more to go, so I'd best get a move on and crank up the production line again.
Have fun with your Christmas creations and I'll see you all soon.
Hugs Kath xxx
