Simon Says...Birds Of A Feather

Hi Everyone...welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog...thank you for joining us for last week's challenge...we hope you can join us this week too because...

and the theme for this week is...
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
I decided to have a little fun and create a whimsical Art Journal page featuring a flock of cute chubby birds, reminiscent of the birds that regularly gather in my garden for a feeding frenzy get-together. The inspiration for this page was an adorable card from Kristina Werner's 2016 Holiday Series.

I applied a liberal amount of water to Distress Watercolor Card and using a paintbrush, dropped Broken China and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide reinkers randomly on to the wet surface, allowing the water to do the work of blending the colours. I kept it quite light and tried to avoid getting colour on the edges of the card. Once it was dry I created splatters using up what remained of the Broken China re-inker.
I have to confess that, unlike Kristina, drawing anything remotely resembling a circle by hand is not a talent I've been blessed with so I looked out one of my favourite circle stamp sets...Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots and inked up 3 of the solid dots with Fossilized Amber and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide inks to create the chubby bodies
and then stamped the outline circles slightly offset using Black Soot Distress Archival
I added Tim Holtz Idea-ology French Design Tape to ground the birds and used a Sharpie Fine Liner pen to add the eyes, beaks, legs and squiggly lines for wings. To create a little interest on the background I applied Broken China Distress Oxide ink randomly through the Bubble Layering Stencil using a mini round blending tool.
I stamped more circles and outlines and used Tim Holtz Idea-ology Type Lower Foam Stamps to create the wording
and Tim Holtz Idea-ology Chatter Design Tape and Hero Arts Typewriter Letters to complete the sentiment...
To finish off I stamped more outline circles around the edge with Broken China Distress Oxide ink and added small circle dots with Fossilized Amber and Abandoned Coral
