Thank you for joining us for last week's challenge and we hope you can join us this week too because
and the theme for this week is...
USE YOUR FAVOURITE TECHNIQUE
My favourite technique is creating backgrounds with Distress products and for this card I used Distress Mica Stains and Black Texture Paste from the Tim Holtz/Ranger Halloween 2023 release, Tim Holtz Sizzix Skeleton Leaves, Funky Floral Large and Frightful Things Thinlits and Idea-ology Halloween 2023 Baseboards and Transparencies.
I trimmed Idea-ology Backdrops 4 paper to 5" x 7" and applied Black Distress Texture Paste through the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Thorned Layering Stencil. Once the paste had dried I spritzed the panel with Unraveled and Specimen Distress Mica Stains and dried. I applied Distress Texture Paste Opague through the Rosette Mini Layering Stencil from Set 30 and once dried, added splatters of Mulled Cider Distress Mica Stain. I fixed the panel to white cardstock to make it sturdier.
I applied Forest Moss Distress Paint to a window from the Idea-ology Halloween 2023 Baseboards pack with my fingers, sanded back to reveal the core and added Distress Crypt Grit Paste using a palette knife.
When the paste was dry, I dabbed Antique Linen Distress Paint over the paste using my finger to apply a light coat.
I fixed a sheet from the Idea-ology Shattered Windows pack to the back of the window and trimmed off the excess. I die-cut the ghosts from Distress Watercolor card using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Frightful Things Thinlits, coloured by tapping them into a puddle of Unraveled Distress Mica Stain and fixed to the window so that the ghost on the left was peeking through the aperture in the shattered window sheet. I added scraps of Distress Black HeavyStock behind the heads of the ghosts . I added strands of Idea-ology Mummy Cloth to the background and fixed the window to the panel with Black Foam Squares to create dimension.
I coloured 3 panels of Distress Watercolor card, by first applying a coat of Distress Paint - Crackling Campfire, Forest Moss and Antique Linen. Once dry, I spritzed Mulled Cider, Specimen and Unraveled Distress Mica Stains on to my Tim Holtz/Tonic Studios Media Mat, spritzed with water and tapped the panels repeatedly into the corresponding colours and dried. I repeated this process with Crackling Campfire, Peeled Paint and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Reinkers.
I fixed the leaves to the panel using Distress Collage Medium and added the Funky Floral Large die-cuts popped up on Black foam squares.
I added Clippings Stickers and a butterfly from the Idea-ology Curiosity Sticker book
I added Black Soot Distress Paint around the edges of the panel using a mini round blending tool and fixed to a 5" x 7" white card blank.

Love how the Unraveled Mica Stain looks on the ghosts. The loose threads look like big spider webs that the ghosts have broken through with the ends flying about. Fun!
