Hi Everyone and welcome to the annual Simon Says Stamp Summer Vacation Kid's Challenge
a special challenge dedicated to our young designers and the theme is...
ANYTHING GOES WITH GLITTER
it's time for all you crafters to let your children loose in your crafty spaces for a few hours...just close your eyes and let them explore their creativity. You are allowed to hide your Copic Markers and extra special papers and to help just a little bit if necessary but we really want the children to "DO IT" themselves as much as possible.
The challenge is open to all children aged between 2 and 16 inclusive and there are not 1 not 2 but 3 surprise parcels of crafty goodies to be won hand picked by Simon
My grandsons Brodie 11 and Oliver 9 were super excited to be invited to take part...woohoo their first Junior DT assignment/adventure while I on the other hand was a little nervous about the GLITTER part and had visions of having to scrub them and the cubbyhole down at the end of our crafting session. Just like their Grandma they have fallen in love with the Crazy Dogs from Tim Holtz...
so with a little help from the Misti they began stamping their favourite dogs on to their cards...
stamped them again twice on to scrap card and got to work colouring with the Mini Ink Pads and blending tools...the perfect size for small fingers...
they cut out the main images and noses and eyes only from the second stamping...
Oliver coloured scrap card with Broken China and Candied Apple Distress Paint and fixed Stick It to both sides...he then cut strips of Broken China using the Fiskars Procision Trimmer and die cut Candied Apple stars using the Star Parade die...removed the Stick It backing paper and fixed to his card. Then removed the Stick It from the front and sprinkled with Broken China and Festive Berries Distress Glitter...rubbing the glitter on to the sticky surface with his finger...Brodie used the "You Are My Favourite" die on the front of his card and fixed card coloured with Broken China Distress Paint to the inside. He used Oliver's left over Candied Apple card and Sizzix/Tim Holtz Heartfelt BigZ die to die cut hearts...fixed to his card...removed the Stick It and sprinkled with Festive Berries Distress Glitter.
Oliver coloured the left over letters from the "You Are My Favourite" Die with Broken China and Candied Apple Distress Markers and fixed to his card using the Quickie Glue Pen.
You can find all the products used over at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp online store...just click on the links below...
The challenge will close on Wednesday 31 August at 8am Ohio time...1pm UK time...2 pm CET so you have a whole month to join in the fun...

ReplyDeleteAh, I know how hard it is NOT to help! But they obviously have your crafty genes Kath because they did a brilliant job on their cards - and no fingerprints all over either, now that's a big bonus. You must be a very proud Grandma indeed! Well done Brodie and Oliver!! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteGreat job? They did a FANTASTIC job! Two brilliant cards. Well done lads. x
ReplyDeleteTheir cards are just adorable and what terrific crafters the boys are. I love the cute dogs and bright red glitter. Good job, Kath, at letting them design and do their own thing. They are cute as can be.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear to see that talent runs in this family and is abundant. Great job, Brodie and Oliver and to grandma, too! Two of my grandsons(ages 4 and 6) were here today and though we didn't pull out the glitter, we watercolored for at least an hour. Thank you Crayola! LOL! It was great fun and they always expect to create something when they come to Grammy's house!
ReplyDeleteThe boys did a fabulous job. Two wonderful cards and I'm sure a very proud Grandma.
ReplyDeleteWell done Brodie & Oliver.
The photo of Buddy in his 'post-op pants' made me chuckle but if they are doing the job, who cares.
