Hi my friends, I was super excited when Simon Says Stamp Brushed Flowers May Card Kit arrived in the mail and was itching to use the gorgeous Brushed Flower stamp set with the Pawsitively Saturated Mini Ink cubes. The kit is still available to purchase at time of writing HERE and the items from the kit can also be purchased individually.
I love the brushed sketchy look of the images on this stamp set, the assortment of sentiments makes it suitable for all occasions and I think this is the perfect stamp set for making batches of cards to gift to non-crafty friends.I trimmed Distress Watercolor card to create 3 - 3.1/4" x 4.1/2" panels and coloured using the acetate smooshing technique with Scattered Straw and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks to create soft and subtle backgrounds.I stamped the flowers and leaves, inked with the 4 colours of Pawsitively Saturated inks included in the kit. I used several techniques to vary the depth of colour - second generation stamping and then adding the same colour to the centre of the flower stamp using a mini blending brush; stamping with one colour and adding a darker colour to the stamp using the same technique - in other words, just playing around and having fun with flower arranging on paper.
I matted the panels on to Simon Says Black Cardstock included in the kit and trimmed to leave an 1/8" border.
To finish I matted the panels on to A2 white card blanks.
I have to say I was rather pleased with the result considering I had only 4 colours to play with and who knows what might happen if I break out my collection of 69 Distress ink colours, watch this space.
Have fun with whatever you are creating
Hugs Kath xxx
