Technology...what a nightmare...

Hi Folks...yesterday did NOT go according to plan...in fact the only way to describe it is...a technological nightmare...I'm like a dog with a bone when things don't work so after hours of struggling with Dell Diagnostics...reinstalling a driver for this that and the blinking other...it turns out that it wasn't the computer that was misbehaving...the USB cable for my camera is faulty so I'm stuck with lots of pics of Fiskars samples not going anywhere until a new cable arrives from Amazon...isn't it frustrating when technology jumps up and bites you on the bum and in this instance nothing whatsoever to do with Mr Blogger.
So I'm very very tempted to head for the hills....yes literally...I need to chill out in more ways than one and what better way than to spend a day ski-ing...all weather dependent of course...fingers crossed that when I log in at The Lecht shortly that the roads are open if there's been more snow overnight or what is already there hasn't disappeared or it isn't closed due to high winds.

a great way to blow away the technology blues...limber up the old body and have some fun in the bracing mountain air.  Whether I'll be so chirpy tomorrow is anybody's guess...two metal planks fixed to your feet don't half remind you of those muscles you rarely use and no doubt the old knees will be protesting too but no worries The Furry Boy will be joining you tomorrow so I can always have a lie in followed by a long leisurely soak in a hot tub.

    Really hope that camera cable arrives sooner than later. Hope you survived the exercise in the icy weather.

    Oh Kath - do be careful. Sympathise with the computer - my three thousand pound laptop didn't like a Dell engineer installing Windows 7 & the saga went on for months - husband bought me a MAC for my 50th birthday & I've not looked back. I do hope the new cable solves it & hope you return in one piece.

    I tend not to rely on the cables. In fact, for one of my camera's I've no idea where the cable is but .... I have a couple of card readers. I find them easier to keep to hand and they don't take up so much room. Last one I bought was under £7 from Asda and it just plugs straight into the USB.

    Hope you had a brilliant day at The Lecht kath, a great way to blow away the cobwebs. We were out on Saturday for the same reason and it felt brilliant. Hope the computer cable arrived and you finally see the back of those Fiskars projects.

    Hi Kath, hope you've had a better day today. I think technology's ok as long as it works. In general I love technology but like everyone else I have my days when I could throw my laptop out of the window!

    Kath, if you're really desperate for the photos, you should be able to take your memory card from your camera into any developer and get the photos burned to a cd for just a few pounds on the spot. Or you could buy a memory card reader for whatever kind of card your camera uses. A bit more money that way though, but then you would have it. Technology can be so frustrating!
